Imps are major antagonists within the Plants vs. Zombies franchise.
They are a smaller variant of zombies that typically sneak into plant defences in one way or another then go further at high speeds, but have lower health. Even in games where they can't sneak into defences, they typically either have their low health, their speed, or some other way to represent their stealth. They are often seen on the backs of Gargantuars.

Plants vs. Zombies series[]
- Imp - The default Imp appearance. They are the only Imps that appear in all three tower defence games.
- Imp Mummy - originates from Ancient Egypt.
- Imp Pirate Zombie - originating from Pirate Seas, they can be spawned from Barrel Rollers and Imp Cannons. The Zombot Plank Walker can fire 5-7 of them across the field.
- Zombie Bull Rider - originating from the Wild West, they ride Zombie Bulls into battle before getting thrown over defences.
- Bug Bot Imp - originating from the Far Future, they are small robots piloted by Imps. They are tougher than normal Imps, travel in a leaping motion, and can fall out of the sky in the "Bot Swarm!" ambush. They can be immobilized by E.M.Peaches and instantly countered by Blovers while airborne.
- Imp Monk Zombie - originating from the Dark Ages, they can spawn on gravestones via the "Necromancy!" ambush.
- Imp Dragon Zombie - summoned from the Zombot Dark Dragon, they are immune to most fire and explosion damage, but otherwise behave like an ordinary Imp.
- Announcer Imp - serves no purpose other than announcing the arrival of a Zombie King. They get immediately flattened when the King spawns on top.
- Imp Mermaid Zombie - originating from Big Wave Beach, they can spawn deep into defences via the "Low Tide!" ambush.
- Yeti Imp - originates from Frostbite Caves. They can be found inside of ice blocks pushed by Troglobites. They are also found in groups of three on Sloth Gargantuars, with one getting thrown each time a quarter of the Gargantuar's health depletes.
- Dodo Rider Zombie - as their name implies, they ride dodo birds. While they walk slowly, they fly over obsticals such as defensive plants or ice tiles.
- Lost City Imp Zombie - originates from the Lost City.
- Imp Porter - healthier than normal zombies, they behave normally until stepping on a gold tile. Once they do so, a tent is constructed on top of the imp, which keeps spawning zombies until it is destroyed.
- Impunk - originates from Neon Mixtape Tour.
- Jurassic Imp - originates from Jurassic Marsh. They are faster but frailer than other Imps.
- Super-Fan Imp - originating from Modern Day, they are tougher than other Imps and explode when they reach the third tile or further. If an All-Star runs into them, they will be kicked across the lawn and explode.

Plants vs. Zombies Heroes[]
History[]
Plants vs. Zombies[]
Imp makes his debut in the 8th level of Roof. When first encountered, he would land down after Gargantuar satisfied himself from an attempt of eating brains.
Plants vs. Zombies Adventures[]
Imp next appeared in Popcap's ill-fated Facebook game Plants vs. Zombies Adventures, once again sneaking into player's defenses. This time however, Imp initially only appeared from the disguise of an Imposter Zombie, who burst into two Imps once the trenchcoat was destroyed. Eventually though, Gargantuar Zombie was added into the game, giving Imp his original way of being thrown into defenses back.
Plants vs. Zombies 2[]
Imp returned in Plants vs. Zombies 2 in a strange set of circumstances. When the game first released, only two time based variants of Imp were in the game, Imp Pirate Zombie and Bull Rider Zombie, the former being launched by Imp Cannons or hiding inside the barrels of Barrel Roller Zombies and the latter being thrown off by a Zombie Bull. Once the 1.7 update came, Gargantuars were added, giving these two Imps a Gargantuar to also be thrown by, Ancient Egypt an Imp and Gargantuar, and due to Piñata Parties taking place at the Player's House, Imp and Gargantuar returned. Imps here typically have Hungry speed compared to Basic Zombie's Basic speed but share the same health, though certain variants have differences. Bug Bot Imp has a different movement pattern, more health, and is vulnerable to E.M.Peach, Imp Dragon Zombie isn't thrown by a Gargantuar and is immune to fire, Yeti Imp is immune to being frozen, Jurassic Imp has less health but moves faster, and Roman Imp throws a net to stun the plant they land on, just to name Imp variants based on the design of the normal Imp.
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare series[]
The main first appearance of Imps in the shooter games was in one of All-Star's abilities. These abilities are simple, when used, All-Star kicks an Imp with explosives at plants, dealing up to 150 damage to every Plant around the explosion. Both abilities take 20 seconds to recharge, though Imp Punt only takes 17 seconds to recharge in Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville
Another boss that is nearly identical to the Gargantuar is the House Gargantuar, as he holds a house-like shield to attack the plants. When the players destroy the House Gargantuar's shield, it uses all the same abilities from the original Gargantuar.
Plants vs. Zombies Heroes[]
Imp also appears in the turn-based mobile card game Plants vs. Zombies Heroes as a Basic Common in the Sneaky class. Here he is one of the most basic zombies in the game, being a simple 1/1 costing 1 to represent the Imp tribe. Imp synergy cards as a result are in the Sneaky class, referencing how Imps usually find a way to sneak into the plant's defenses.
Imp however, is lucky enough to get three Heroes based on him, Impfinity, Z-Mech (based off the playable character in Garden Warfare 2), and Huge-Gigantacus. Impfinity and Huge-Gigantacus share the Sneaky tribe while Impfinity and Z-Mech share the Crazy tribe, which can reference how Imps behave more crazily compared to most other zombies.
Plants vs. Zombies 3[]
Imp’s latest reappearance was in Plants vs. Zombies 3, and was one of the first zombies that the player would run into. Imp had half the health of a Browncoat Zombie at level 1 but was faster in comparison and could be fired out of a Gargantuar just like before. They were considered a Normal Neighborhood zombie with the Fast threat.
There were a few other Imp zombies in the game, being the lane-changing Hot Dog Imp, the taco-giving Taco Imp, the multiplying Impfinity Clone, the copycat Funeral Crashers, the robotic rider Flamingo Rider, the plant-stealing Robber Imp, the bass playing Rainbow Bass Imp, the electric Bride of Frankentuar, the flying Batty Vimpire, and the explosive Super-Fan Imp. They could all also be kicked by All-Star Zombie if he ran into any of them.
