The Indomitable Fist kung fu school (known as Yi Po Men (Chinese: 義破門) in the original version and Aeon Genesis translation) is the main antagonistic faction of the Imperial China chapter of Live A Live. It is a kung fu school ran by Ou Di Wan Lee and promotes strength above all else, with kindness and trust perceived as weakness, and many of its disciples are thugs and bandits who use their teachings to terrorize the weak.
Biography[]
The Indomitable Fist art of kung fu was invented by Ou Di Wan Lee, promoting power and cruelty as virtues and viewing trust and camaraderie as weaknesses. Their school was established in the prestigious fortress located deep within the Bamboo Forest, and its master, Ou Di Wan Lee, offered power to even the most unscrupulous of the students, many of whom used their strength to terrorize and oppress the weak and defenseless. However, Ou Di Wan Lee considered most of his disciples to be inferior and expendable, seeing only the elite that sits at his table to be truly strong and valuable.
One day, when the Earthen Heart Shifu grew old and went around the towns to find the disciples who'd be worthy heirs to continue his art, Ou Di Wan Lee deviced a plan to eliminate the rival kung fu school. Offering strength to Sun Tzu Wang and his goons, Wan Lee sent them out to terrorize the town, and as shifu got distracted, the Indomitable Fist disciples raided the school en masse, killing two of three disciples, with only the most well-trained one surviving. Devastated by the loss of his two students, Earthen Heart Shifu embarked on a journey to put an end to Wan Lee's reign of terror, soon joined by the disciple after teaching them the ultimate technique of Earthen Heart — Heavenly Peaks Descent.
The shifu went to the Bamboo Forest, where the Indomitable Fist Fortress was hidden in. Breaking into the fortress, he began to fight his way through the disciples, acolytes and their white tigers. At one point of his journey, the surviving disciple of his joins shifu in trying to bring justice to Ou Di Wan Lee and his disciples. Ultimately, after defeating five Chun Chan Pai warriors and walking through the last corridor, the shifu and his disciple reach Ou Di Wan Lee at his throne room. In front of them was a long table, where his elite sat at.
Ou Di Wan Lee greeted the shifu and his student and introduced them to his elite, stating that he'll accept the challenge only once they all will be beaten. He said that he won't send them all at once, as it'd be dishonorable, but the surviving student calls him out on his hypocrisy as Wan Lee sent the large gang to kill the shifu's students. Ou Di excused this behavior by stating that individually, his disciples are weak, hence why he sends them in groups, and as "a way of apology", offers them to confront his elite in limited numbers. In truth, however, Ou Di Wan Lee only seeked to weaken and exhaust the shifu to finish him and his disciple off with his two assassins, So Zu and Man Zu. He also explains that these two assassins are so powerful that they even have a chance of being able to defeat and overthrow him one day, which is why he keeps them close to constantly stay on guard, stating that the Indomitable Fist's teachings promote only strength and view trust and camaraderie as weaknesses.
Realizing his ploy, the shifu tells his disciple to take on Ou Di Wan Lee himself as he takes on the assassins, telling them to remember the Heavenly Peaks Descent technique he taught. As the shifu began to fight the assassins, the disciple challenged Wan Lee, who sneered at the student's perceived weakness. However, shifu and his disciple ultimately emerged victorious, with the latter defeating arrogant kung fu master with Heavenly Peaks Descent technique and finishing him off by roundhouse-kicking him into the gong. With Ou Di Wan Lee's reign of terror ended, the shifu passes away from his wounds and age, with his disciple becoming his successor in teaching the Earthen Heart kung fu style, while the Indomitable Fist technique would be buried and lost in history.
