Looks like a great day for achy, burning eyes!
~ Inflammation

Inflammation is the villainous mascot and main antagonist of the Xiidra eye drop commercials. As his name suggests, he causes inflammation, dry eye, and various other eye-related issues with his Dry Eye Console.

He is voiced by Jim Conroy, who is best known for starring in and co-writing the PBS Kids TV series Fetch! with Ruff Ruffman, and it's reboot, The Ruff Ruffman Show.

Biography[]

Inflammation is first established to the audience while giving the woman he's controlling aching, burning eyes using his Dry Eye Console. The woman uses a generic type of eye drops, but they only provide temporary relief, leaving Inflammation confident that the drops won't touch him. The woman then tries Xiidra eye drops, much to Inflammation's dismay. After she applies the drops, a Xiidra "X" enters Inflammation's control room and shrinks him to a size where he can no longer reach his Console. Though he tries numerous times to reach the console, his new size prevents him from affecting the woman's eyes. Near the end of his first commercial, Inflammation asks the audience, "Got any room in your eyes?", indicating his desire to gain control of another human's eyes.

This cliffhanger is resolved in the next commercial where Inflammation is shown inside the head of actor Ken Jeong. This commercial shows a similar sequence to the first, with Inflammation starting out in control of his victim's eyes but soon being shrunk by the Xiidra "X". This commercial also ends with Inflammation asking "Got any room in your eyes?", but it is unknown if he manages to escape and gain control of someone else.
