Personality[]
The InoShikaCho is a mindless, destructive beast who causes rampage in several villages and seems to obey Tien and Chiaotzu in order to get food when the duo pretends to kill it.
However, this changed when Goku saved him from getting burnt by Tien and as a result, becomes protective to Goku and defends him from the angry mob who believed that Goku was the con artist when he was framed by Tien. He also apologized to the villagers for his rampages and became helpful with them.
Biography[]
InoShikaCho was born around Age 448 as a pet to Master Roshi's former friend, Master Shen (a.k.a the Crane Hermit). As the beast got older and larger, it started becoming more aggressive, to the point where Roshi and Shen couldn't tame it. Tien and Chiaotzu also knew about InoShikaCho when it was a baby.
InoShikaCho is first seen terrorizing a village, but they are stopped by two martial artists named Tien Shinhan and Chiaotzu, who seemingly defeated and killed the beast. However, Goku revealed this was all an act to get them money, as he saw Tien, Chiaotzu and InoShikaCho eating corn together in a campfire in the aftermath of the battle.
The next day, InoShikaCho would begin another rampage in a different village, where Tien and Chiaotzu "defeat" it once again. However, Goku intervenes and tries to expose the two being con artists by tickling the beast's "corpse" to prove that it is still alive. Realizing that they have been exposed, Tien then lights a fire on a torch and puts it on the ground beneath the tied InoShikaCho to frame Goku as a con artist if Goku freed InoShikaCho. As InoShikaCho squeals in pain, Goku frees him, but at the cost of angry villagers chasing him to another village.
However, thanks to Tanmen, a young villager girl who treated Goku's injuries from Tien the other night, the villagers were able to realize the errors and InoShikaCho apologized to the villagers in response. Tanmen takes the beast in and nicknames it "Ino". InoShikaCho becomes Goku's training partner and helps the village by plowing fields.
InoShikaCho also appears in Bulma's nightmare, where she dreamt that the beast impaled Goku and killed him in the process.
Trivia[]
- InoShikaCho's name is a reference to a card combination in the Hanafuda card game, Koi-Koi, where the combination is Boar (Ino), Deer (Shika) and Butterfly (Cho).
