The InterGalactic Banking Clan, also known as either the Galactic Banking Clan or as the Banking Clan, was one of the most prominent and powerful commerce guilds during the Clone Wars, and an antagonistic faction in both the Star Wars prequel trilogy and the 2008 animated television show Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
The Banking Clan was founded to facilitate the exchange of credits throughout the galaxy, even doing business with neighboring galaxies. Its leadership was comprised mostly of Muuns. During the Clone Wars, the Banking Clan was one of the major corporate powers behind the Separatist Alliance.
Prior to the end of the Clone Wars, the InterGalactic Banking Clan was one of the most influential corporate bodies in the galaxy, even during the waning days of the Galactic Republic.
During the Clone Wars, the Banking Clan sided with the Confederacy of Independent Systems and was one of its main donors, with its chairman, San Hill, being given a place on the Separatist Council. Despite this, the Banking Clan continued to do business with the Republic during the conflict, though at increased interest rates.
After the end of the Clone Wars, when the Republic was reformed into the Galactic Empire, the Banking Clan was annexed into it.
