Irene Takanawa is a minor antagonist in Family Guy. She is the mother of Tricia Takanawa, and first appeared in the episode "12 and a Half Angry Men", then later appeared in "Carter and Tricia".
She was voiced by Alex Borestin, who also voices Lois Griffin.

Irene is a short-tempered, grumpy, and bossy tiger mother who has abused Tricia ever since her childhood, and continues to do so when Tricia is now an adult. She yells at Tricia and starts talking about stuff that is unrelated to what she's yelling at her for. It's revealad that she also slaps her daughter in the face in public in "Carter and Tricia", as she yells at Tricia and starts slapping her in the face.
Appearance
In "12 and a Half Angry Men", Irene wears a white shirt with a light blue shirt inside, while in "Carter and Tricia", she wears a green shirt with another green shirt inside.
Biography
Irene first appears in the episode, 12/1 Angry Men, where she gives her daughter, Tricia a review on how she did on the news. She tells Tricia she did terrible and tells her she was still like a washing board and proclaims, "Tricia Takanawa's mother, so sad!".
Irene later returns in "Carter and Tricia", where she attends Tricia's party. After Tricia tells her she's happy she could make it, Irene yelling at her and tells her she works for Channel 5. Tricia tells her that she was being honored, but Irene continues yelling at her and starts smacking her in the face when she starts asking how she'll be able to be taken care of at one-hundred and twenty-one years of age.
