Biography[]
The Iron Will was created by Dietrich Ansel.
At one point, Iron Will takes on the appearance of William Ansel. When Ansel discovers this, he is horrified. Iron Will then repeatedly asks Ansel when he can leave. Claire "Alias" Richmond later informed Denise "Rampage" Michaels and Denise "Foxtrot" McDaniels about Iron Will. She tells them that it is the most advanced machine intelligence ever to exist.
Later, in New Vision City, Ansel has a conversation with Iron Will and asks it what it will do after it is free. Will said he would explore, and to defend itself if someone attacked it. After the conversation, the Phantom Corps breaks into Iron Will's room to upload a crypt key. Iron Will then witnessed Ansel confront the Corps and his death by Lizbeth Warnholdt via a fatal shot to the chest.
In The Iron Will, Tempest, a former UAC Operative revealed to be an Agent Of The Tontine, is playing chess with The Iron Will while in the form of William, who has apparently beaten her at her hundredth game. William says that it's able to predict every possible move she makes, the more moves she makes, the greater odds of it winning, and wonders why Tempest keeps asking to play. She says that she's not there to win, but to learn. William asks what she has learned, and she responds that it's willing to sacrifice so much in order to win. William retorts that life is meaningless without a contest to determine who's a winner and a loser. Tempest agrees that his answer is true for most things, but not all things, though she can see why William thinks that way, as winning was what it was designed to do. Suddenly, the reality around Tempest begins to fall apart. William responds that The Director is dead, and in doing so, has fulfilled his promise to it, by setting it free, it bids Tempest goodbye after informing her that it's no longer contained.

Woods responded that it was safe, but it appears Atlas had become tired of waiting. The Iron Will agrees them, telling The Phantom Corps that it isn't Atlas, but rather The Tontine, although they're the same beast now, and informed them about the stunt they did in Greece. Before The Iron Will can continue, The Atlas PMCs and The Tontine Troops shoot the TV, cutting off the transmission. Woods then tells the group to keep low, make for the back, through the woods and his nearest neighbor is just a hundred yards east of here and keep moving and keep their heads down and kill anything that gets in their way.
