After Nilfgaard and his commando lost this war, he survived the execution in the Scoia'tael condos and went into exile in Zerrikania. Some time later Isengrim to the northern continent as Wolf Isengrim, where he took up residence in Novigrad to help Dijkstra form his criminal organization.
Biography[]
Past[]
Isengrim, before becoming the famous leader of the Scoia'tael warband, was born in the Blue Mountains into a family with a brother and four cousins. After the First Northern War ended, Isengrim joined the Scoia'tael guerrillas in 1263 fighting the humans in the northern continents, and became the leader of the Scoia'Tael a year later. Over time, Isengrim became the most charismatic and legendary leader of the Scoia'tael warband, causing a great threat to the northern continent until a huge cash prize was announced.
Isengrim's leadership actions fought the racism of the people of the northern kingdoms against the non-humans, so he intends to thwart those states that have problems caused by the First Northern War. This makes the Nilfgaardian emperor want to ally himself with the Scoia'tael band and Isengrim to conquer the entire northern continent.
Siege of Thanedd[]
When finally the elven sorceress Francesca Findabair contacted Isengrim telling him about a plan where Nilfgaard could eliminate mages and sorcerers from the north on the Thanedd peninsula. To which Isengrim supports her plan and then goes to the Nilfgaardian soldier Cahir and the apprentice of the mage Vilgefortz Rience to inform about the plan on Thanedd. Isengrim and his Scoia'tael commando squad boarded the ship Breemervord where Rience is hidden by the mist, so they can reach Thanned Island undetected. When they reached Thanned where the situation is tense, Isengrim's troops attacked the mages from Thanned, starting a conflict on the Thanned peninsula, causing dozens of casualties to support Nilfgaard.
During the riots in Thanedd, Isemgrim's group was ordered to kidnap the Cinthrian princess Cirillia from Nilfgaard, but Isemgrim himself and his group failed to kidnap Cirillia. Moreover, the situation on Thanedd becomes even worse, forcing all units to retreat back to the secret cave, saving the seriously injured Cahir. After the invasion, Isengrim receives information that Cahir is a traitor and is ordered to find Cahir and hand him over to Nilfgaard.
Confrontation with Nilfgaard[]
Some time later, Isengrim and his Scoia'tael subordinates managed to catch and then kidnap Cahir according to the order of Emperor Emhyr. Then Isengrim arranges to hand Cahir over to some of the Nlfgaard soldiers through the hawkers because he does not want to arouse the suspicion of the Nilfgaardian Empire of cooperating with the squirrels. However, the meeting between the hawkers and the Nilfgaardians is accidentally interrupted by Geralt of Rivia, Dandelion and Milva, which is why Cahir is again and then escapes.
Due to Cahir not being brought to Nilfgaard Vattier de Rideaux assumes that Isengrim betrayed the Nilfgaardian empire and planned to seize him and then interrogate him about Cahir's whereabouts. Isengrim is invited by his allies from Nilfgaard but Isengrim is very skeptical about the invitation and yet he shows up for the meeting much earlier than his allies expected. Isengrim's arrival much earlier was not accidental as he avoids being kidnapped by the Nilfgaardians and instead he and his group of Scoia'tael kidnap their spy. The kidnapped Nilfgaardian spy turns out to be Jan Struycken. When the spy goes to his home and is confronted by the Iron Wolf who is disappointed that he was betrayed, Isengrim still sees the Nilfgaardian Empire as an ally.
After kidnapping the Nilfgaardian spy, Isengrim ordered his Scoia'tael men to torture Struycken by putting his head in an anthill. After all the tortures, Faoitilana learns that he was to be taken to Nastrog so they could interrogate him about what he was doing during the assassination attempt on Thanned and where Vilgefortz, Rience and Cahir are hiding because they suspect that Isengrim is secretly working with them because Cahir, who was supposed to deliver them, never arrived. To which Isengrim was surprised because he had never met Vilgefortz and Riencen and the fact that he had already sent Cahir to Nilfgaard and only now did Isengrim learn that Cahir, who was supposed to be delivered to Nilfgaard, escaped.
After interrogating the spy, Isengrim orders his Scoia'tael men to free Struycken from torture. He then asks him to explain to Vattier that Isengrim did not betray Nilfgaard and warns him that if they attack him again, he will kill them without mercy.
Further cooperation with Nilfgaard[]
Despite the great misunderstandings a year ago, he still wants to cooperate with the Nilfgaardians, thanks to which Isengrim became the leader of his Vrihedd brigade, composed exclusively of elves from the Scoia'tael, who are in the areas occupied by the imperial army, and he was given the high rank of colonel. During the command of his brigade, he gained a bad reputation for committing bloody and cruel war crimes not only on knight soldiers on the North continent but also on defenseless civilians. The Vrihedd formation has also achieved many successes thanks to its fighting spirit.
Isengrim and his brigade joined the Battle of Brenna where Marshal Menno Coehoorn personally ordered the fight against the Nordligai. When Nilfgaard fails to defend the enemy, Menno orders Isengrim to attack Redania and Temeria. Ultimately, the battle ended in defeat for both Nilfgaard and the Scoia'tael and led to the end of the Nilfgaardian invasion. Although Isengrim was one of the partisans who survived the battle, he was soon captured by his allies from the Nilfgaardian Empire along with other members of the Scoia'tael and his brigade.
Further fate after the war[]
After the end of the second northern war, there was a peace treaty between the northern kingdoms and Nilfgaard, in which the Cintra Peace Treaty was signed, which weakened Nilfgaard's position as a power and recognized the Scoia'tael as war criminals handed over to the Nordlings on condition of fair trials, mild sentences and a quick amnesty. By virtue of this signing, most of the elves from the Vhrihedd brigade, including Isengrim, were to be executed. He was taken along with other convicts from the Vhrihedd brigade to the Dillingen galley where they were to be attached to Drakenborg, the place where they were to be executed. However, Isengrim worked for two days how to free yourself from chained wrists how to untie them with a clamp freed himself from the chains, knocked down the guards who were guarding him behind bars and jumped out of the window of Drakenborg.
