Everyone feels pain. And why? Because of your arrogance. Your obsession with secrets. They won't suffer any longer. Not my father, not my students. No one.
~ Isidora Morganach as she makes clear of her intent to rid the world of pain.

Isidora Morganach is the overarching antagonist of the video game Hogwarts Legacy. Like the protagonist, she was a wielder of ancient magic. Although well-intentioned, her desire to take away pain from other people led her to become delusional, as she came to believe it was necessary to take away pain from everyone in the world.

She is voiced by Holly J. Barrett.

Biography[]

Born in Feldcroft, near the famous wizarding school of Hogwarts, as a young girl Isidora witnessed the four members of the Keepers: Percival Rackham, Charles Rookwood, Niamh Fitzgerald and San Bakar, relieving her village of a drought. At the age of 15, she was admitted to Hogwarts as a late-admittance student, being sorted into Ravenclaw. She was mentored by Rackham into mastering her ability to wield ancient magic, although she lamented his disapproval of her wanting to take away her father's pain of the loss of her brother.

At some point during her young adulthood, she accepted the position of professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts at Hogwarts. On the same day, she invited the four other Keepers to her house, where she demonstrated that pain could be taken away from people with a spell she created, which she used on her father. Despite the disapproval of the Keepers, she continued to use this spell on dozens of other people, storing their pain in jars. She eventually recruited the goblin Bragbor to construct a repository to contain these, which she hid below Hogwarts in an enormous cavern.

Discovering that the extracted pain granted power if consumed, she attempted to convince the Keepers of her views that everybody was in some kind of pain, which needed to be taken away. Despite failing in this, she consumed the extracted pain from many people, gaining much power in the process.

Professor Bakar at some discovered that Isidora had continued to use her abilities on her father, which had transformed him into an emotionless husk. Shortly thereafter, Bakar met with Rackham, who told Bakar that Isidora had not stopped, and even used her abilities on students. The four Keepers assembled and ventured into the caverns where Isidora's repository was stored to confront and stop her. The Keepers demanded Isidora surrender to them, and after she refused, Rackham attempted to disarm her, but she deflected his spell. She then blasted away three of the four Keepers, gravely injuring Fitzgerald, after which Rackham engaged her in a duel in which their spells locked. Rookwood soon joined Rackham in duelling her, but Isidora proved to be too powerful, nearly defeating them both. Realizing the danger she posed, Bakar then cast the Killing Curse on her, putting an end to her scheme to rid the world of pain.

Despite her death centuries ago, her actions had disastrous consequences for Hogwarts and the surrounding area many years later. Her creation of the repositories of ancient magic led Ranrok to declare war on wizard kind thanks to the immense power of the emotion and pain she had drained from others. She also had predicted that someone with the same ability as her would soon take her place, so she made an effort to ensure her work wouldn't have been for nothing.

Powers and Abilities[]

Powers[]

  • Master Witch/Fallen Wizardkind Physiology: Isidora was a wizardkind, a sub-species of human race distinguished by their ability to use magic and longevity, of ambiguous lineage.
    • Magic: Isidora possessed the gift of magic like other members of her race, though as the bearer of unnamed type of Ancient Magic which allowed her to perform feats beyond even the most capable of her kind, it didn't manifest until she reached 15 years of age.
      • Ancient Magic Abilities:
        • Ancient Magic Sensing and Manipulation: Isidora could see and hear traces of ancient magic in her surroundings as well as manipulate them.
        • Accelerated Development (possibly): Considering a 19th-century Hogwarts student who revealed to possess the same ancient magic as Isidora's own seemingly able to develop skills, traits, and abilities faster and more effectively than should be possible (the full extent of this technically player determinant), it can be inferred that she shared the same quirk to compensate her powers not manifesting until she reached 15 years of age.
      • Defense Against the Dark Arts: Being the very subject she taught at Hogwarts, she was extremely skillful when it comes about spells related to it.
      • Transfiguration: Isidora has mastered this branch of magic, having once conjured pillars out of thin air in conjunction of aforementioned ancient magic in her disposal which gave them their distinct ornate appearance and neon glows like other ancient magic-based constructs.
      • Spell Creation: Isidora invented an unnamed pain extraction spell which allowed her to extract physical and emotional pain from the target at the risk of stripping them of their emotions.
  • Longevity: Had her intention to rid everyone of their pain not corrupted her nor turned her against the Keepers, Isidora would've live a long life.
  • Physical Aptitude: Isidora presumably displayed deceptively remarkable constitution which allowed her to shrug off punishments worse than most resilient of Muggles could handle along with great stamina as good as Hogwarts Legacy protagonist. If anything, Bakar's decision to cast Killing Curse against her during their final confrontation was done to spare him and his fellow keepers from engaging their former protege in a prolonged duel they could never possibly win.

Abilities[]

  • Teaching skills: As one of popular Defense Against Dark Arts professor Hogwarts ever had, Isidora proved herself to be a capable teacher.
  • Dueling skills: Isidora was a capable duelist, able to tend to all Keepers at once in their final duel.

Trivia[]

  • Isidora and her actions were responsible for the whole plot of the game by creating corrupted magic. Thanks to her assistance with Bragbor the Boastful, that very same magic would later be found and corrupt Ranrok, who seeks the corrupted ancient magic to help aid him and his Goblin rebellion.
