It Lives is a final boss in the roguelike game series The Binding of Isaac, appearing recurringly since the original game with the same name. He is the replacement of the boss Mom's Heart.

Biography

It Lives makes its first appearance in the Ending 11 (9 in the original game), where the player defeats the Mom's Heart eleventh time. Isaac opens the golden chest seconds before It Lives suddenly dropping from the ceiling, appearing behind Isaac while staring at him angrily. When Isaac turns behind to see it, It Lives screams and grins afterwards.

Being the Mom's Heart's replacement, It Lives serves as the final boss of Chapter 4 (Womb/Utero/Scarred Womb) and behaves identically to the Heart, with some exceptions in terms of spawning monsters. He spawns various monsters during the initial of three phases, while personally attacking the player with his Brimstone and rapid tear attacks. Similar with the Heart, when It Lives is killed, he opens up entrances to both Sheol and the Cathedral, as well as ??? if killed in under 30 minutes in a playthrough.
