Biography[]
NEVEC and betrayal[]
Ivan Solotov was a NEVEC employee and was stationed on E.D.N. III. He had one son, Yuri who would go on to become the head researcher for the Frontier Project, a terraformation device that'll transform E.D.N. III from a frozen icescape into a lush and Earth like planet, but NEVEC' motives are to exterminate all life on the planet surface, both snow pirates and native Akrid.
Ivan was once a trusted ally of Gale Holden, Basil and her husband. He was initially a covert agent for NEVEC. NEVEC saw Gale as a liability and his research and work with the VS (Vital Suit) technology posed a threat to their control over E.D.N. III. Ivan was likely ordered to eliminate Gale as part of NEVEC’s larger agenda to dominate the planet and its Thermal Energy. Gale, his son Wayne and a band of Snow Pirates were lured into the Domed City and were attacked and defeated by a category-G Akrid called Green Eye. Wayne manages to escape but Gale was killed by Bandero and his squad of NEVEC soldiers. 30 years later his betrayal motivates Basil to hunt Ivan down for killing both Gale and her husband.
Ivan’s downfall was his attempt to play both sides. While he was useful to NEVEC for a time, his mercenary nature made him untrustworthy in the long run. Once NEVEC considered him a risk, they had no reason to keep him around, leading to his own betrayal at their hands. His betrayal was part of NEVEC’s larger plan to eliminate resistance and secure control over Thermal Energy (T-ENG), the planet’s primary resource.
