~ The Ivy Rangers while mocking other people.
Looky, looky. It's the little Poppy Rangers. Hope y'all ready to lose for the fourth time!
~ One of the Ivy Rangers mocking the Poppy Rangers in Ranger Games - their most famous quote.

The Ivy Rangers, shortened to the Ivies, are supporting antagonists in the We Bare Bears franchise.

The Ivy Rangers are a group of egotistical, spoiled, reckless, loathsome, chauvinistic and argumentative little girl scouts/troops and rangers, and serve as the villainous counterparts and arch-rivals of the Poppy Rangers. The Ivies are led by their unsportsmanlike commander, Ranger Zhao. The Ivy Rangers have participated in the annual Peewee Ranger Games led by Ranger Martinez as expert kickball players, and have won against the Poppy Rangers up to four times, which is until Grizz came into their assistance as their "secret weapon" and, thus, successfully defeated the Ivy Rangers for the first time in the Peewee Ranger Games. Outside of their careers as park rangers like Ranger Zhao, the Ivy Rangers are typically bullies who desire to pester and belittle other people, more especially the Poppy Rangers.

The Ivy Rangers are voiced by unknown voice actresses.

Personality[]

In sheer contrast to the Poppy Rangers, the Ivy Rangers are a group of egotistical, reckless, chauvinistic, argumentative, arrogant and spoiled little girls (despite sharing comparatively cute appearances from the Poppies), typically following the commands of their superior Ranger Zhao, which would potentially cause and await severe danger and trouble to either themselves or other people, but the Ivies do not show even the slightest expressions of awareness and caution within them. While the Ivies do show high commitment towards one another at the same rate of the Poppy Rangers (often seeing Ranger Zhao as a mother-like figure), the Ivies do not work as a team for justice, rather for crime and oppression.

The Ivy Rangers are more especially the arch-rivals of the Poppy Rangers. Not only were the Ivies bullies toward the Poppies in their earlier childhood, but the Ivies participated in the annual Peewee Ranger Games led by Ranger Martinez to be expert kickball players, and have won against the Poppy Rangers up to four times, just to mock and belittle the Poppies. The Ivies' skill in kickball is so dreaded that even the Poppies are virtually aware of how the Peewee Ranger Games' results will end up: prime examples include Diaz, who expresses her pessimism for winning the Peewee Ranger Games against the Ivies, Murphy, who complains that the Ivies typically beat her the other Poppies, and she and Parker refer them as "trained kickball robots" and "kickbots," respectively, and Nguyen, who just decides to forfeit the game for the aftergame pizza. That is until Grizz came into their assistance as their "secret weapon" and, thus, successfully defeated the Ivy Rangers for the first time in the Peewee Ranger Games. Thanks to Grizz's assist, the Poppies would go on to defeat the Ivies more times in the next years of the Peewee Ranger Games, eventually leading to the Ivy Rangers' deserved disqualification, much to the Ivies' misfortune and rage.

The Ivies are also relentlessly mischievous, tending to perform unforgiving and harmful pranks, along with outright tricking other people, such as one of the Ivy Rangers mocking Grizz by stating, "I thought bears were too busy licking honey to play kickball." This shocks Grizz to the point he cannot even react to the ball coming towards his direction, eventually knocking him to the head, only for another Ivy Ranger to run past him at laugh at him disrespectfully. Not only that, one of the Ivy Rangers went as far as sliding the floor with a leg towards Chuck Wallace's direction to get dust onto her, blurring her vision, while the corresponding Ivy Ranger laughs at her to mock her. More than that, however, the Ivy Rangers are quite sadistic, shown when one of the Ivy Rangers purposefully slide tackle Wallace and injure the latter's ankle without even the slightest signs of remorse, and even the Ivies sadistically smirk at the sight of this.

The Ivies have trained themselves drastically to be expert kickball players in the aforementioned game just to constantly defeat and overpower the Poppies, persistently rub their victory in the Poppies' face. This makes the Poppies feel so insecure and pessimistic that, what makes this even worse, the girls do not even desire to participate in the annual Peewee Ranger Games at all. Examples include: Diaz, who assumes that she and the Poppies have no chance at winning, Murphy, who agrees with Diaz that the Ivies typically beat the Poppies and she and Parker alias them as "trained kickball robots" and "kickbots," and above all, Nguyen and Wallace, who outright admit to forfeit for the aftergame pizza instead due to the Ivies' oppression in the Peewee Ranger Games.

However, the Ivies are intolerant to failure and are sore losers (like their commander, Ranger Zhao), tending to throw their hats on the floor or kicking the floor out of anger and spite for the Poppies winning over them. Furthermore, when the Ivies lose to the Poppies for the first time in the annual Peewee Ranger Games, the girls become outraged by the Poppies' victory against them (as with Zhao), vowing for revenge and to defeat them next year, which shows that the Ivies have a vengeful disposition as well, not even admitting and succumbing to defeat and losing for the first time in their lives.

Physical appearance[]

The Ivy Rangers are drawn with physical traits that make them excessively charming girl scouts, similar to the Poppy Rangers. The sixsome wear their "Ivy Ranger" uniforms that have the opposite colorations of the Poppies' "Poppy Ranger" uniforms, consisting of a dark-moss green, short-sleeved shirt, overlaid with a dark blue bandanna around the collar with a single olive stripe across the middle, which shows all of the Ivy Badges the girls have been rewarded by Ranger Zhao. As well, this uniform includes navy-toned khaki shorts, tennis shoes of the same color, and tube socks underneath. Over-top the entire outfit is a dark indigo sash. The six girls have somewhat large eyes, circle/oval-shaped heads, relatively stubby arms and legs, and ironically have four fingers instead of the traditional five. Although the sixsome are villains, the Ivy Rangers greatly resemble seemingly harmless little girl scouts.

In the annual Peewee Ranger Games, the Ivies wear "Peewee Ranger" uniforms consisting of night sky-navy shirts overlaid with stygian blue lines around them, which features a baby blue circle in the middle showing symbols of bronze stars in them, displaying numbers on them, along with wearing stygian blue shorts overlaid by cobalt blue lines, and stygian blue caps with stars symbolized on top of them.

Biography[]

Background[]

The Ivies' earlier childhood is purely ambiguous, but it is assumed that the Ivy Rangers introduced themselves as bullies to the Poppy Rangers and have created a pure bond with Ranger Zhao upon first meeting her, and have followed the same lifestyle as the Poppy Rangers: relentlessly working and training hard to attain all badges possible from Ranger Zhao by succeeding several missions, most of which, however, would involve causing possible trouble and cruelty. Years after the cruel girls were dedicated to working with Ranger Zhao to attain badges, the five girls are officialized as the Ivy Rangers, becoming the arch-rivals of their more friendlier and sweeter counterparts, the Poppy Rangers. The Ivies would go on to participate in the annual Peewee Ranger Games led by Ranger Martinez as expert kickball players, and have won against the Poppy Rangers up to four times, only for the Ivies to mock and belittle the Poppies.

Ranger Games[]

In the Ivies' debut episode, Ranger Games, the Ivy Rangers are first seen with Ranger Zhao wearing sunglasses, facing against and unsympathetically mocking the Poppy Rangers before the annual Peewee Ranger Games begin. The Ivies seem confident at first, but with Grizz's cheerleading, the Poppies manage to win against the Ivies in a couple of rounds, much to the Ivies' dismay and irritation, which is until one of the Ivy Rangers slide tackled Wallace as a last-ditch effort to prevent the Poppies from winning without showing even the slightest signs of sympathy and remorse for it, instead smirking quite sadistically from it and from injuring Wallace's ankle.

Thus, Grizz replaces Wallace as the Poppies' new star player upon the aftermath of it, but the Poppies have not ran out of mischievous plans just yet. One of the Ivy Rangers started mocking Grizz by stating, "I thought bears were too busy licking honey to play kickball." This shocks Grizz to the point he cannot even react to the ball coming towards his direction, eventually knocking him to the head, only for another Ivy Ranger to run past him at laugh at him disrespectfully. The Ivies took advantage of Grizz's lack of skill in kickball to gain the upper lead in the game, causing the Poppies to lose their winning streak. Meanwhile, one of the Ivy Rangers went as far as sliding the floor with a leg towards Chuck Wallace's direction to get dust onto him, blurring her vision, while the corresponding Ivy Ranger laughs at her to mock her.

In the final round, Grizz initially messes up, and one of the Ivies sadistically state that it will "all be over soon," which is until the Poppy Rangers start cheerleading for him, which ultimately motivated Grizz from his lack of skill in kickball. The Ivy Rangers shrug this off at first, but Grizz managed to successfully hit a home-run and ultimately caused the Ivies to lose the game, much to the Ivies' dismay.

Relationships[]

Poppy Rangers[]

The Ivy Rangers are the arch-rival counterparts of the Poppy Rangers. The Ivies introduced themselves as the oppressive bullies and arch-rivals of the Poppies, even before both groups attended the annual Peewee Ranger Games, and the Ivies have trained themselves drastically to be expert kickball players in the aforementioned game just to constantly defeat and overpower the Poppies, persistently rub their victory in the Poppies' face and make the latter feel insecure and pessimistic, and even worse, not even participate in the annual Peewee Ranger Games at all. Examples include: Diaz, who assumes that she and the Poppies have no chance at winning, Murphy, who agrees with Diaz that the Ivies typically beat the Poppies and she and Parker alias them as "trained kickball robots" and "kickbots," and above all, Nguyen and Wallace, who outright admit to forfeit for the aftergame pizza instead due to the Ivies' oppression and sheer dominance in the Peewee Ranger Games.

Grizz Bear[]

In a similar fashion to their relationship with the Poppy Rangers, the Ivy Rangers show a xenophobic and spiteful disposition towards Grizz. Specifically, when Grizz steps in the Peewee Ranger Games as the Poppies' star player to substitute for Wallace, one of the Ivies mocks purposefully manipulate and him by saying to him, "I thought bears were too busy licking honey to play kickball." This shocks Grizz to the point he cannot even react to the ball coming towards his direction, eventually knocking him to the head, only for another Ivy Ranger to run past him at laugh at him disrespectfully, showing that the Ivy Rangers act as unfair distractions and corrupting influences towards Grizz to abuse his lack of skill in playing kickball and heavily mitigate the Poppies' high hopes for Grizz in the annual Peewee Ranger Games. This is further supplemented by one of the Ivy Rangers sadistically remarking to Grizz that he should not be concerned since it will all be over soon after he messes up in the first two attempts during the final round of the Peewee Ranger Games.

Ranger Zhao[]

The Ivies are best friends with their superior commander, Ranger Zhao. Although it can be assumed that the reason the Ivies are juvenile delinquents up to this day is because the Ivies were potentially raised by an unsportsmanlike and equally horrible Ranger Zhao regardless if it is against their own will or not, the Ivies have nonetheless created a pure bond with Ranger Zhao upon first meeting her, and have followed the same lifestyle as the Poppy Rangers: relentlessly working and training to attain all of the Ivy Badges possible from Ranger Zhao by succeeding several missions and objectives. Most of which, however, would involve causing possible trouble and cruelty, which is the virtual opposite of the Poppy Badges. Years after the cruel girls were dedicated to working with Ranger Zhao to attain badges through seemingly felonious and even incriminating missions, the five girls are officialized as the full-on villainous Ivy Rangers. Thanks to Ranger Zhao's positive influence on the Ivies' determination and ego, the Ivies have dominated the annual Peewee Ranger Games over the past few years.

Trivia[]

  • The Ivy Rangers are the third major antagonists in the We Bare Bears series after Andy Bangs and the Ragtag Kids to be kids. Unlike the Ragtag Kids, the Ivies and Andy Bangs do not subvert from their corrupting factors at all, even after their failure, making the Ragtag Kids more honorable than the two.
  • The Ivy Rangers are the third antagonists in the We Bare Bears series to work as a team. The rest are considered — the Wolves and the Ragtag Kids.
  • Despite sharing the equal charming physical appearances from the Poppies, the personalities of the Ivy Rangers are characterized as more spoiled and juvenile editions of the Poppy Rangers: the Ivies and the Poppies share their level of valor; however, the Ivies' corrupting influences is in contrast with the Poppies' positive influence; the Ivies' arrogance is equivalent to Nguyen and Parker's confidence; the Ivies' talkative, troublesome, free-spirited, juvenile and mocking behavior is equivalent to Murphy's enthusiastic, cheerful and childlike personality, and Diaz's curiosity and tendency to ask too much questions; the Ivies' feared and versatile kickball skills combined with being an intimidating girl-scout group of bullies is equivalent to Wallace being a dreaded, hyperaware and reliable leader.
  • The Ivy Rangers' "Peewee Ranger" and "Ivy Ranger" uniforms seemingly have the opposite colorations of the Poppy Rangers' "Peewee Ranger" and "Poppy Ranger" uniforms.
  • Unlike the Poppies (who aspire to have appropriate and rightful future occupations), the Ivies aspire to grow up to be gangsters in the future.
  • Unlike the Poppy Rangers, the Ivies call Grizz by his full name, while the Poppies call him, "Bear Guy." Unlike the Poppies, however, the Ivies show a xenophobic and spiteful disposition towards Grizz.
