| ~ Izana to Mikey in chapter 173 |
Izana Kurokawa is a major antagonist in the anime and manga series, Tokyo Revengers. He serves as one of the two main antagonists (alongside Tetta Kisaki) of the Tenjiku Arc. He is a cold, powerful gang leader that seems to show no remorse for anyone, and whose intention is to isolate and take down Mikey. He is ultimately revealed to be the latter's adoptive older brother.
He was voiced by Nobunaga Shimazaki in Japanese (who also voiced other characters like Mahito in Jujutsu Kaisen, Joffrey Baratheon in the Japanese dub of Game of Thrones, and Toru in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R) and by Alejandro Antonio Ruiz in the English dub.
Personality[]
As a young child, Izana was bright and optimistic, though this takes a dark turn soon after being abandoned by his mother. He is seen as a rather apathetic and brash person; upon meeting Kakucho for the first time, he kicks the "grave" that the former had made in honor of his dead parents, bluntly telling him that remembering the dead won't do anything. Though this was also his way of showing his care; he simply chose to hide it behind callousness.
Izana has also shown a childish and still-optimistic side even after the abandonment; in a flashback, he is seen playing with snow with Kakucho like a regular child and promises with him to make a kingdom where people with nowhere to go can stay. In contrast to this, however, Izana is also seen to be extremely possessive and jealous, as when Shinichiro mentioned Mikey, he felt betrayed and begged for him to not mention him any longer, as the mere mention of him made him hurt. This can be traced back to his trauma from being abandoned at an early age.
Despite all of this, Izana still showed some genuine care for others, as he is seen in a depressive state following Shinichiro's death, even after he had cut ties with him after learning that he was neither related to Emma nor Shinichiro.
As the leader of Tenjiku, Izana puts up an apathetic and ruthless front, considering all of his subordinates and comrades as mere pawns, unafraid of causing harm to any of his members. Even after witnessing Emma's death, he stays silent with an unreadable expression, simply observing the scene. However, right before death, he admits that he considered Kakucho a true friend instead of a tool. Subsequently, he tells Mikey that he was a person beyond saving; displaying his awareness of how corrupt he had become through the years.
Appearance[]
Izana is a half-Filipino, half-Japanese teen with a light brown complexion. He has wide purple eyes and straight silver hair styled in an undercut with a middle part. He is of average height.
During the Tenjiku arc, he is most commonly seen in his red Tenjiku uniform, with hanafuda-like earrings. In any future, he is depicted with wavy hair of the same color as his past counterparts, with the same earring.
Abilities[]
- Physical Prowess: Izana was dubbed the "strongest" by Kisaki, displaying his capacities as a fighter. During his faceoff with Mikey, he was able to be on par with his level and even make him go down numerous times.
- Authority: As the leader of Tenjiku, he is feared and respected by its members. He is known to have absolute control over them due to the fear he inflicts.

However, Mikey grew up in a loving family environment with Shinichiro and Emma, receiving karate training from his grandfather while Izana had a difficult childhood, experiencing neglect and abandonment and taught himself to use violence. Mikey founded Toman with a strong sense of loyalty and kindness, helping his friends and striving to create a new era for delinquents while Izana became a cold and ruthless gang leader who saw his subordinates as disposable tools.
