Izanami is one of the main antagonists of Lucifer from DC Comics.
She is the Japanese goddess of death and a former lover of Lucifer Morningstar.
History[]
Izanami was the wife of Izagani and mother of Susanno, Tsukoyomi, and Amateratsu along with many children. She was willing to ally with many other underworld gods. She worked with such deities such as Morrigan and Ahirman to take superman in such as disguising herself as a young journalist named Kiki Bones and transformed Lois into a goddess but Lois was able to see through izanami's deception and Superman defeats the gods but Lois did loss her godly powers afterwards. e offers to parley with him on the condition that he come to her realm as a powerless mortal, and she is forced to return the wings after her sons violate Lucifer's right of hospitality. However, Izanami secretly switches four of Lucifer's feathers with dove's feathers, enabling her son Susano to perform a ritual that causes Lucifer's power to double back on him while in combat with another enemy, dealing the Morningstar his sole unambiguous defeat. At the end of the story, Izanami outlasts all the other antagonists, and upon learning of Lucifer's departure from reality, decides to refuge herself into the new Devil of Elaine Belloc's multiverse. She would have a fling with Lucifer at some point and they had a son named Taehiko and she would raise her son as a weapon against Malakezeen to take over hell together and later was defeated.
Izanami uses Takehito to get revenge on Lucifer for abandoning her but both are defeated and imprisoned back into the underworld.
Powers and Abilities[]
Izanami is a goddess having superhuman strength, speed, stamina and durability. She is also immortal, has magic, and a master manipulator. She can also shape shift into a human form to conceal her true form.
