Jürgen Mertensacker is a minor antagonist in the Netflix dramedy Orange is the New Black.
He is an oberstleutnant for the German military who sought to have his daughter, Franziska, committed to conversion therapy for her sexuality.
He is portrayed by Stephen Lee Anderson.

Mertensacker is a strong-minded, opinionated man. He shows clear hatred toward homosexuality, including toward his daughter and her girlfriend, Poussey Washington.

Mertensacker worked in the German military and became a senior figure. At some point, he had a daughter, Franziska. Franziska and Mertensacker travelled internationally due to her father's stationing.
Orange is the New Black[]
At Mertensacker's stationing, his daughter, Franziska, begins a relationship with Poussey Washington. When Poussey is outed as a lesbian and Franziska's girlfriend, he forces Franziska to break up with Poussey and initiates proceedings to have them be relocated. Heartbroken and drunk, Poussey confronts Mertensacker about his hatred. Mertensacker tells Poussey coldly that she is confused.
This enrages Poussey who tries to pull a gun out on Mertensacker, concealed in her trousers. However, Poussey's father, James, intervenes and tells Poussey to let it go. Mertensacker then tells James that Poussey should receive conversion therapy, but James tells Mertensacker that she is fine the way she is.
