Julius David "J.D." Rader is the main antagonist of 2025 co-op video game, Split Fiction.

He is voiced by Ben Turner.

He is the corrupt CEO of Rader Publishing who invited writers to take part in using the Machine, his creation that would allow them to experience their stories coming to life. In reality, he's actually stealing their ideas while they remain inside the simulation. He serves as the archnemesis of Mio Hudson and Zoe Foster.

Biography[]

Rader invited writers to Rader Publishing to take part in being hooked up to the Machine where they would be trapped inside their simulations while he steals their stories in order to pass them off as his own. Mio, suspicious of the experiment and his motives, attempted to back out, but Rader won't let her, inadvertently placing her in the same simulation as Zoe. This resulted in the glitches being created in the Machine.

Later, Rader got in touch with Mio and Zoe inside the simulation, and he attempted to reason with them into ending their pursuit of the glitches. He is outraged of them refusing his offer. When they returned after ending Mio's science-fiction story Final Dawn, Rader ordered his scientists to separate them from the glitch in order to give them in repairing the system, but it failed.

He finds himself getting into trouble with his superiors the more Mio and Zoe pursue the glitches, to the point that he eventually rebelled against them. Getting desperate, he ordered his scientists to lock the two writers away in their subconscious, not caring on the off chance they're going to become brain dead as a result.

Finally losing what's left of his sanity, Rader attempted to enter Mio and Zoe's simulation to confront them directly. Inside the simulation, he becomes a god-like entity with control over the virtual reality, though he had no control over the glitches. Mio and Zoe were able to defeat him and escape the Machine, leaving Rader to be arrested by the police for his crimes.
