After Rand had meltdown and tried to blow up the sun as his "solution" to cure skin cancer he was fired, and his daughter Reagan Ridley took over his duties at the company. J.R. hired Brett Hand to co-lead Reagan's team due to her poor people skills. J.R. gave Regan various missions and assignments although out Part 1 until he was invited to join the Shadow Borad.
