~ Jack's greeting

Jack is a supporting antagonist in the Ukrainian FPS Survival Horror video game S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call Of Pripyat.

Jack is a leader of a rather big gang of veteran Bandits, who engages in loan-sharking business. Catching stalkers in debts.

Personality[]

According to Vano, one of Jack's loansharking business victims; Jack appears as a polite and friendly person willing to help his "brother in arms" by lending equipment, and asking for money later. However, it's only a façade to hide his true, manipulative and opportunistic nature. Jack by lending equipment, rapidly increases price and asks for more and more money explain it as "interest" rising. Thus, putting Vano and many others in debt to the point of drying stalkers from their money and income.

Jack is also appeared to be a complete coward. If the player decides to threaten Jack with a high-end weapon, or, if the player has authority among Bandits, Jack will immediately become more obedient and will suddenly "lower" the price to the former one.

Appearance[]

Jack wears a brown leather trench coat with a turtler-neck shirt underneath, popular among veteran Bandits with a ski mask that covers his face, and fingerless gloves.

Biography[]

At some time prior, Jack became the leader of his own gang and began practicing loan-sharking scheme, lending equipment under conditions and then ask for "percentage" due to the rising of percentages.

One such victim, became Vano, a very good but naive stalker. Jack took advantage of Vano's nativity and dragged the latter into debts, guilt-trapping and sweet-talking him. Vano had no other reasons but sell almost all his equipment and the ones he bought from Jack bring back to him as a "contract".

Degtyarev meets Vano at the Yanov Station and asks the latter to join him, but Vano refuses, confessing that he is in debt to Jack. Degtyarev decides to help Vano out and goes to the Checkpoint where Jack and his gang resides. From here the player has two options, he can either solve the problem peacefully or with violence.

  • Peacefully: Mjr. Degtyarev pays the full loan with the higher price, or intimidates Jack with weapon or his authority, making Jack lower the price without the percentage. Jack and his gang will remain alive for the rest of the gang, and will leave their base, the Checkpoint, to supposedly find a new lair for their sinister activity.
  • Violence: Degtyarev simply storms the gang's lair and kills every single bandit, ending Jack's illicit business.

Powers & Skills[]

  • Manipulation: Jack is a rather skilled manipulator. He uses different tricks such as guilt trapping and sweet talking to present himself as a "friend" and "ally".
