~ Mr. Joshua to Martin Riggs. |
Sub-Commander Jack Joshua (also known as Mr. Joshua) is the secondary antagonist in the 1987 film Lethal Weapon. He is General Peter McAllister's second-in-command and the co-founder of the Shadow Company.
He was portrayed by Gary Busey, who also portrayed Krill in Under Siege.
Biography
Mr. Joshua works as McAllister's second in command to Shadow Company, a heroin business. He kills Michael Hunsaker when he tells Detective Roger Murtaugh about the company and attempts to kill Murtaugh himself and his partner Martin Riggs. When the two detectives are captured by McAllister's men, Mr. Joshua decides to spare Riggs, realizing that he knows just as much as Murtaugh. Mr. Joshua then puts Riggs through electric shock torture, but he manages to escape and chases after Mr. Joshua in his car. Riggs loses sight of Mr. Joshua thanks to the heavy traffic and the villain is able to flee.
After the general is killed, Mr. Joshua heads to Murtaugh's home in hopes of killing his family, but Riggs and Murtaugh anticipate this and confront him there. Riggs engages in a one-on-one fight with Mr. Joshua as the police surround them, with Riggs winning the fight. As Mr. Joshua is arrested, he quickly grabs a gun from one of the policemen and aims it at Riggs. Sensing the threat, Riggs and Murtaugh instantly pull their guns and shoot Mr. Joshua simultaneously.
