Jack Kellog was an antagonist in a few episodes in the second and third seasons of Chicago Med. He was portrayed by Scott Morehead.
Kellog initially appeared in the episode "Cold Front" where he showed up at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center's emergency department, demanding the doctors drop what they were doing and get him refills for his medications. However, the medical staff are all working on higher priority cases. Kellog storms out of the ED, but chief psychiatrist Dr. Daniel Charles takes note. Later on, Kellog pretends to be his "brother" and calls the ED to tell them Kellog had committed suicide due to not having his medications. The ED staff quickly figures out this is a twisted stunt on the part of Kellog. Kellog's behavior leads to Charles' putting him on a 72 hour psych hold. During the course of the treatment Charles tells Kellog that he'll continue treating Kellog.
Later on, Kellog returns to the ED in the episode Love Hurts where he demands to see Charles. Charles, however is away dealing with a family emergency. Kellog angrily departs, returning later that evening where he shoots Charles in the stomach before shooting himself in the head.
Not only does Charles make a full (physical) recovery, but Jack Kellog does as well. By the time the episode "Speak Your Truth" takes place Charles has come to the conclusion that Jack Kellog is legally insane and should not be found guilty of trying to kill him. This is something he testifies to in court, stating the other medical professionals who evaluated Kellog and found him sane were all wrong. Shortly after Charles testifies, his own psychiatric resident Sarah Reese takes the stand and states it's her professional opinion that Kellog was sane when he shot Dr. Charles.
The jury agrees with Reese and the other medical experts who said Kellog was sane, finding him guilty. Kellog is then sentenced to prison. While Reese is satisfied justice is done, Charles is upset because he believes Jack won't get the help he needs and that his temper will probably get him killed when he is sent to prison. That prediction turns out to be true when Kellog is killed by another inmate a very short time later.
The whole situation leads to a serious falling out between Charles and Reese. It eventually leads to her transferring to another residency program. Additionally, Charles's behavior leads others at the hospital to believe he might not be totally mentally healed yet.
