He is the only known Nephilim to be sired by an Archangel in the series, conceived when Lucifer had an affair with the human Kelly Kline while he was possessing the body of President Jefferson Rooney. Though initially an heroic character, Jack's actions gradually became darker and morally questionable when his soul was burned out during his final conflict with the alternate Michael in season 14.
He was portrayed by Alexander Calvert, who also portrayed the demon Belphegor while he was possessing Jack's body, Tom Martin in the Scream TV series, Lonnie Machin/Anarky in Arrow, and Rufus in Gen V.
History[]
“ | I'm not a child! I'm the son of Lucifer! I'm a Hunter! I am a Winchester!!! | „ |
~ Jack Kline |
When Nick tried to resurrect Lucifer, Jack burned him alive and later accidentally killed Mary Winchester. He sought to redeem himself by attempting to resurrect Mary with Rowena's help, but failed. Jack then begins to hallucinate Lucifer, who tells him that the Winchesters brothers hate him now and only he remained.
Jack is later met by Duma, who offers him a place in Heaven so as to make the world a better place. When the atheist professor Harrison Tate refuses Duma's belief in God, Jack uses his powers to turn him into a pillar of salt. At Duma's behest, Jack began forging new angels from human souls in Heaven. Jack then inflicts pastor Ames with a biblical curse for not believing in him, causing worms to writhe from cuts all over his body, later teleporting away with his church group to create new Angels.
Jack was later locked away by Sam and Dean in the Ma'lak Box and began hallucinating with Lucifer again, who tells him he has been played by the Winchesters and they have locked him away for the rest of his life. Angry, Jack uses his powers to explode the box and managed to escape after incapacitating the Winchesters and Castiel with his telekinesis. Distressed at everyone always lying, Jack orders every human being to stop with this, leading to a worldwide inability to fudge the truth.
Chuck/God then returns to Earth and tries to manipulate the Winchesters into killing Jack, but when they disobey, he personally kills him and begins a new apocalypse. While Jack's body was possessed by the demon Belphegor, his essence is then sent into the void, where he is hidden by the Shadow and the reaper Billie to stop God. At the end of the series, Jack manages to nerge with Amara/the Darkness and absorb with Chuck's powers, becoming the new God and finally redeeming himself.
