Jack Nelson is a major antagonist in the comedy, dark fantasy, light novel, manga, and anime series The Eminence in Shadow. He is the 11th-ranked member of Knight of Rounds of the Cult of Diablos who works as an archbishop. He also led his faction in Lindwurm and is a scientist who created the Tears of Diablos. Nelson died in his battle against Shadow, the leader of the Shadow Garden, in the sanctuary, before obliterating the place.
He is voiced by Mugihito in Japanese and by James Belcher in English.
Appearance[]
Jack is a short elderly bald man with a fat build with grey hair on the side and a grey mustache. he adorns himself in a neat attire consisting of a lengthy sleeved shirt in ivory hue adorned with brown and golden embellishments, complemented by a white garment featuring accents in light azure and gold, accompanied by ivory gloves, ash-colored trousers, footwear, and crimson gemstone ring. His appearance remains generally unvarying, except for his balding crown with remnants of hair solely at the rear, purportedly attributed to the strain inflicted by the disparagement from individuals such as Alexia Midgar and Cid Kagenou.
Personality[]
In public, Nelson is viewed as a humble, irrational and kind archbishop, but beneath his facade lies arrogance and arbitrary actions, especially when covering up his crimes. He was inhesitant to order attacks, even against heroes, and easily succumbed to manipulation, giving away important information when seduced. He's part of a cult of delusional psychopaths, convinced of his invincibility, but when faced with defeat, he justifies his actions. In the anime, he appears digilent but complains often and displays a great self-pride, blaming his comrades and immortality for his stress and baldness.
