Jack the Ripper is a minor antagonist in the adult animated musical dark comedy series Hazbin Hotel. He is a serial killer who murdered a woman Sir Pentious witnessed when he was alive, but never reported him, and Jack went on to murder five more women, before he disappeared.

Background[]
When Pentious was alive, as Pendleton, working on a invention, and he ended up seeing a young woman from his window who was then brutally murdered by a client of his, who would later come to be known as Jack the Ripper. Pendleton watched in horror, as he knew who the killer was, yet did nothing to stop it, allowing Jack to walk away from the scene. Jack would continue to go on murdering five more women and remained uncaught from authority. What happened to him afterwards remains completely unknown.
Legacy[]
As a result of his terrible guilt, Pendleton ended up in Hell after his mortal life ended, becoming a snake-like sinner demon. There, Pendleton would adopt the name "Sir Pentious" and use his knowledge of machines to become a supervillain in an attempt to rise up as one of Pentagram City's powerful overlords. However, he still carried the guilt of not bringing Jack to justice and kept it a secret.
He then ended up at the Hazbin Hotel, a hotel made to rehabilitate sinners in hopes of getting them into Heaven and became friends with everyone there. After choosing to sacrifice himself to save his friends from Adam, he repented his sins and was allowed to ascend to Heaven. When questioned by the Speaker of God about how he ended up in Hell, Pentious recounted how he saw Jack the Ripper kill his first victim, and how he failed to do anything about it.

- Jack is never explicitly named onscreen, but the setting and specific amounts of women he murdered makes it a clear reference to his real life counterpart.
- Sir Pentious mentions that after killing the women in front of his workshop, Jack went on to kill five more women, likely the "canonical five" victims that are attributed to him as his only confirmed victims. It is possible that the first woman Jack killed in front of Pentious' workshop was Martha Tabram, a woman killed nearly a month before the Ripper's first confirmed victim and whom is theorized to have been his first victim.
- Sir Pentious also mentioned that the Ripper was a "man of power", which may be a nod to the many conspiracies of the Ripper being either an upper-class gentleman or a man of nobility.
