Giacomo Michael "Jackie" Aprile, Jr. (mostly known as Jackie Jr.) is the secondary antagonist of the third season of the HBO Television Series The Sopranos.
He is the son of DiMeo-Soprano Family's second (acting) boss Jackie Aprile Sr. and the nephew of capo Richie Aprile. Despite his father wishing he stay out of the Mafia and Tony Soprano making it clear it will stay that way, he however becomes increasingly involved with the Mafia, leading to his death.
He is portrayed by Jason Cerbone.
Personality[]
Once an above average young man born into Mafia lineage, Jackie was smart, likeable and athletic who like his dad, deep down wanted in the life. But, his dad made him study and was keen on his son becoming a doctor. Jackie knew he wasn't capable of that, and only put on a façade of doing just that. Tony even often wished A.J. was just like him, too. Jackie only began getting involved with the criminal aspects of his family in 2000, season 2 of The Sopranos, after the death of his father and the release of his uncle from prison. Despite attempts to succeed at Rutgers, Jackie, Jr. drifted towards a life of crime as he began helping his uncle Richie with his waste management business and drug distribution.
Biography[]
Giacomo "Jackie" Michael Aprile Jr. was born on May 15, 1978 to DiMeo Family capo, Jackie Sr. and Rosalie Aprile. As a child, Jackie was surrounded by the Mafia lifestyle, and similarly to the people around him, attempted to become apart of that lifestyle. Jackie was also close to Tony's daughter, Meadow, as a child, with them constantly hanging out during family events. Jackie soon attended Rutgers University, but still wished to become apart of the Mafia life. However, after Jackie's uncle, Richie was murdered by his fiancée, Janice Soprano in 2000, Jackie decided to separate himself from organized crime.
Due to Jackie Sr.'s death of stomach cancer in 1999, Rosalie soon marries Ralph Cifaretto, a member of the DiMeo Crime Family. Due to Ralph's past with Jackie Sr., Jackie Jr. soon becomes Ralph's protege and decides to go back to his wishes of joining the Mafia. Jackie then forms his own crew, consisting of various other young men, who also wish to join the Mafia. Jackie also starts dating Meadow, which goes sower after Jackie cheats on Meadow and Tony, the new boss of the family, gets increasingly annoyed with Jackie.
One day, Ralph informs Jackie of when Tony and Jackie Sr. took down a card game held by Feech La Manna. This inspires Jackie, as he decides to bring his crew of Carlo Renzi, Dino Zerilli and Matush Giamona, to rob a card game run by made men, Christopher Moltisanti, Furio Giunta and Albert Barese. The robbery goes wrong, however, as Jackie murders a man attending the card game for insulting him, which results in Renzi being murdered by Chris, as Dino, Jackie and Matush flee the scene. Jackie steals a car and drives off, as Dino is then murdered by Chris and Barese. Since Christopher recognized Jackie, Jackie goes into hiding, where he goes to the Boonton Projects and cries to Tony over the phone. The following days, Tony and Ralph decide the only way the can take care of Jackie, is to have him murdered, as the following morning, while Jackie is leaving his hideout, he is murdered by DiMeo Family soldier, Vito Spatafore with a gunshot wound to the head. Although Meadow has broken up with him, she is distraught once AJ informs her of his death. This further strains Meadow's relationship with Tony.

Trivia[]
- Jackie Aprile Jr. was reportedly so hated by the writers of The Sopranos because of how annoying the character was, they purposely made his death scene lackluster and make very little sense:
- He's humiliated in a game of chess by a child so he goes for a walk.
- It's broad daylight outside and there's clearly several witnesses walking around him.
- He's walking towards the camera and yet he somehow does not see Vito Spatafore, one of the largest men in the entire show, apparently walking towards him and then walks past him. Vito was also not in the scene previously anywhere at all.
- Vito raises a gun at the back of Jackie's head and the shot focuses on the gun to show it's a very fake looking prop gun.
- Jackie falls onto a pile of snow in a rather un-cinematic fashion, with his face not even shown.
- Finally, Vito takes roughly ten seconds just to run to a car and get in before driving off slowly.
- Jackie was born in 1978 and died in 2001, making him 23 years old.
