Jackie Ford is an overarching antagonist of the BBC British soap opera EastEnders.

Biography

Jackie Ford was a notorious criminal who was at some point imprisoned prior to 1998, wherein she had a cellmate named Cindy Beale; the latter had been jailed for hiring a hitman named John Valecue to kill her husband Ian Beale after he discovered that she cheated on him with his half-brother David Wicks and threatened to take custody of her son Steven along with their twin children Lucy and Peter respectively.

Not long afterwards and unbeknownst to Walford citizens, Cindy made a plea bargain, to have her charges dropped if she turned informant against Jackie Ford to which she actually did; Cindy became an informant for the authorities against Jackie's criminal activities. Cindy was placed in the witness protection programme, with the authorities faking her death by claiming that Cindy died in prison whilst giving birth to her daughter, Cindy Beale Jr. From then onwards Jackie summoned her crime family, The Fords, to hunt down Cindy and her family at all costs in retribution.

Soon enough Cindy began living under the name of Rose Knight and started residing in France. During that time in April 2014, Cindy learned that Lucy had been murdered and believed that Jackie's family had killed her in an act of revenge. But this wasn't the case as it later turned out that Lucy's younger half-brother, Bobby Beale, was the killer. A few years after Lucy's death, Ian found out that Cindy was alive and reconciled with her after learning about her ordeal with Jackie and her crime family - thus being drawn into her situation wherein Ian and his own family could become potential targets of Jackie's wrath against Cindy for grassing her up to the police.

During the last years of Jackie's life, Cindy was informed by her witness protection agent, DCI Mary Nicholls, that Jackie was in hospital having fallen ill entering the final day of life. Eventually in June 2023, Cindy was informed that, Jackie Ford has died, but not only that, by the end she was an absolutely spent force, with no family left, no henchmen to work for her, no crime partners. She died unvisited, un-mourned and completely alone as the last of an un-lamented line.; this in turn allowed Cindy to regain her original identity and return to Walford for good.
