Jacob Duncan is the main antagonist of the Jack Reacher novel Worth Dying For by Lee Child. He is the patriarch of the Duncan clan who runs a trucking business in a rural town of Nebraska.
Biography[]
Background[]
Jacob Duncan was the eldest of the Duncan clan, with his brothers Jonas and Jasper. At some point of his life, he adopted Seth as his son, and they kidnapped a girl who had the same age as Seth. After the word was spread that the girl went missing, no one tried to visit the Duncan's house again. That girl was revealed to Dorothy Coe's daughter, and she accused them of it when the State Police came to investigate. Because of that, the Duncans stopped making deliveries from her farm for a year.
Jacob has been running a trucking business in the town with his family, and employed some players from Nebraska Cornhuskers to be his enforcers. Anyone who refuse or disagree with the Duncans will get beat up by them and have their properties damaged. As business, Jacob had smuggled many children from Asia to America, for sex trafficking. The Duncans were ruthless pedophiles who would kill children when they felt bored, and made a shrine out of their corpses.
Worth Dying For[]
Jacob first appears in the book when he, with his brothers and son, talking Reacher interfering their business. They agree to get rid of him, sending two Cornhuskers to the motel where he stays at. Later, Reacher would track Seth down to a steakhouse, then beat him, and his two bodyguards.
