Jacob Kell is the main antagonist in the 2011 horror movie Jacob.

He was portrayed by Dylan Horne.

History[]

Jacob is first seen with his younger sister Sissy, in her room having a tea party with her until they hear Otis Kell yelling at Edith Keller for an unknown reason and go to investigate.

A group of three kids, set in the events after the movie, is then shown with two of them daring one of them to go into an old house where Jacob lives. He nearly does until he's stopped by Sheriff Billy Kell, who tells him his friends abandoned him and then tells him he'll drive him back to town. The kid asks Billy if Jacob was real and Billy tells him he was indeed a real person.

Sheriff Billy has a flashback to 1979 to when he was only a deputy and he was with Sheriff Andy Morgan. They get a call about a domestic disturbance at the Kell house because Otis Kell, Billy's brother and Jacob's uncle, has been drinking again. Otis is shown throwing stuff at Edith and hitting her because her kids were touching his things. Jacob grabs Otis by his arm and chokes him against the wall until Billy and Morgan arrive. Jacob only stops strangling Otis when Sissy tells him to let Otis go.

Billy takes Otis to their squad car while Morgan comforts Edith, who tells him it was her fault for what happened and begs them to not arrest Otis, though they bring him in anyways. Otis stares down Billy and Morgan outside until Sissy takes him back outside.

Edith finds an old newspaper from 1971 of when she was married to Lawrence Kell, the other brother to Otis and Billy, who inherited a large mansion from "The McClouds" and Lawrence didn't even know he was related to them. Edith tells Lawrence that the house is haunted, but he doesn't believe her. He tells Edith he's gonna fix up the house and then they have their picture taken for the newspaper.

Back in the present, Otis starts hearing mysterious voices in his head which he tries to stop by hitting himself. Jacob then suddenly finds and kills a cat off-screen, which the voices in his head presumably told him to do. Sissy tells Edith that she should leave Otis and that she has a bad feeling that something bad will happen if she doesn't. She leaves to go to work and tells Sissy to clean the place while she's gone so Otis won't be mad when he returns. Sissy finds what Jacob did to the cat and she tells him that "shouldn't listen to them". She then brings him inside eat and clean the blood off his hands.

At the police station, Otis is woken up while he's hungover and Morgan beats him, then tells him that if he wasn't Billy's brother that he would kick him out of town. He then warns Otis that if he doesn't sober up and stop hurting Edith, the next time he has to arrest him, he'll kill Otis and bury his body where it won't be found. He then sets him loose. Otis gets picked up by his friend Earl Johnson who immediately takes him to the bar.

Billy meets Edith at the diner and tells her they let Otis go and tells her the look in Jacob's eyes the previous night was "cold and black and lifeless". Billy even admits to being scared of Jacob since Jacob has also been known to kill random farm animals and set a barn on fire once. Billy wants Jacob to get help since he'll only get bigger and stronger as he gets older, and if he kills someone, he won't stop with other people.

Back in 1971, Lawrence drives up to the mansion he's inherited. As he starts fixing it up, he finds an old book and totem and Lawrence starts hearing the same voices Jacob heard earlier. He reads the book while he's fixing up the house to the point where he ignores his family for an entire week. Edith begs Sheriff Morgan to find him when he's at the house at night, but he never manages to find Lawrence.

In the present once again, Jacob finds the ruins of the house and hears the voices once again and Sissy stops him from going into the house. She reminds him that she hears the same voices he does and it isn't right what they say, so Sissy takes Jacob home to plan another tea party. Meanwhile, Otis finally leaves the bar to go home.

Back at the house, Jacob hears the voices once again while playing with Sissy and he has a violent outburst, breaking their table. Sissy leaves to go make more tea just as Otis arrives home. When she finds one of his old trophies that fell from the previous night, she tries putting it back on the shelf but Otis accidentally scares her and she falls from the chair she was standing on, breaking the trophy. Otis angrily chases her out of the house until she trips and hits her head on a rock, with Otis too drunk to notice while he beats her with a belt.

Sissy calls out to Jacob with her dying breath, and he finds her dead. He quickly puts together that Otis was responsible for her death and he goes inside to beat Otis and then rip one of his arms off with his bare hands, then kills him off-screen. He then leaves the house soaked in blood and picks up Sissy's body to take her back to their father's inherited house. Edith returns home long after Jacob is gone and finds Otis' dead body, then calls Morgan and Billy to try and find her children.

Deputy Cindy calls Earl despite Sheriff Morgan's order not to do so and tells him that Otis is dead and to look out for Jacob, who's currently the #1 suspect and the sheriff needs all the men in town who can help to find him. Earl quickly finds Jacob walking down a road carrying Sissy and he tries shooting them, but his shotgun jams. Jacob overpowers him easily, impaling him with his own shotgun and then crushing his neck under his foot to break it, the voices in his head no longer being stopped by Sissy.

As Jacob continues to walk with his sister's body, he has flashbacks back to 1971 on October 31st where his mother takes him to a diner and finds Lawrence in a trance with the voices still in his head. He starts strangling her in an attempt to kill her, but the other patrons try stopping him, with Lawrence killing four people and he nearly kills the bartender until Morgan shoots him dead. Lawrence's blood makes it's way over to Otis, possessing him now with the voices his father was hearing.

That night, Jacob briefly stops at his father's grave where his voices intensify. Billy then arrives at Otis' house when he hears that he's dead. Morgan tells Billy that Edith is ok, but Jacob and Sissy are missing. Morgan then orders him to go to the sheriff's office and rallies the townsfolk for the manhunt to kill Jacob. When Jacob finally gets to town, he beats a man named Gary Mitchell to death with the butt of his shotgun, then quickly leaves when he hears Billy's police car. Morgan radios Billy to tell him that he believes Jacob is going to the cemetery where he briefly dropped off Sissy's body. At the cemetery, Jacob kills three more bounty hunters.

When Edith overhears that Sheriff Morgan plans to kill Jacob, she races to Lawrence's abandoned house to try and stop them herself. Morgan then finds Sissy's body at Lawrence's grave and right before he's able to tell Billy what happened, Jacob stabs him in the stomach and then drags it upwards out of his shoulder. Having taken revenge on Morgan for killing his father, Jacob continues his mission. Billy soon finds Morgan dead, now intent on killing Jacob.

Billy meets up with Edith and her boss Max, telling them they're going to the McCloud house, and Edith follows him. Jacob finally makes it to their old home, but once Billy finally knows that Sissy is dead and thinking that Jacob killed her, he shoots Jacob to death in front of Edith.

Back in the present day, Sheriff Billy drives the boy back to town. As they do however, the boy looks back at the house and sees the ghosts of Jacob and Sissy, having completed his mission after all.
