Don't touch it! It's in the soup! Don't touch the soup!
~ Jacqueline trying to warn other Witches.

Jacqueline is a witch who is one of the Grand High Witch's followers and a supporting antagonist in the 1983 Roald Dahl novel The Witches, and it's movie adaptations.

She was portrayed by the late Roberta Taylor.

Biography[]

Jacqueline is known to be a witch working as a cook in the Exclesior Hotel so it might be a reason why the witch meeting was held there. Like all witches, her main hobby is murdering children, due to the fact they smell like "dog's droppings" to her. Jacqueline attended the annual witch meeting was the witness of Grand High Witch's plan and the transformations of Bruno and Luke.

Jacqueline was responsible for preparing a special cress soup for all the Witches at the meeting. However, Luke (who had been turned into a mouse) managed to sneak into the kitchen thanks to his grandmother, and threw the whole bottle of Formula 86 into the soup. Jacuqeline unknowingly tried the soup to check whether it was good enough. However, after a brief moment, she started turning into a mouse, and before she could warn the witches in her human form she already turned into a mouse. She quickly ran to the dining room to warn Grand High Witch but she was squashed by Pamela as she thought she was just a child turned into a mouse. This was the cause of the downfall for the other witches, as they ate the soup with the Formula that turned them all into animals (with the exception of Susan Irvine).
