Jake is the main antagonist in the 1984 live-action vigilante/gang movie Savage Streets.
He is the leader of The Scars who normally share a rivalry with the Satins, who were led by Brenda, and later became vengeful after the latter stole and trashed their car.
In an act of revenge, he and his men raped her deaf sister, Heather, and killed her best friend, Francine (who was pregnant at that time). His actions led to his demise at the hands of Brenda near the end of the film.
He was portrayed by the late Robert Dryer.
Personality[]
Jake is seen as arrogant, sadistic, wrathful, and overall cruel as he gets, going through many lines he'll cross to get what he wants as a means to benefit his satisfaction, one of them being outright rape or murder. He's shown to be both ruthless and dangerous when he intimidates anyone like his dope dealer and is likely to be homicidal and vengeful when provoked under pettiness, such as killing Francine for giving him a scar or he'd yell like an animal when his car got trashed.
Like Fargo and Red, Jake does possess a perverted side of himself, though more likely a misogynistic one as seen by his sexual harassment of women to tease Vince and his petty hatred for Brenda and the Satins. He also isn't afraid of targeting people with conditions as seen by how he and his boys gang-raped Brenda's deaf sister, Heather, who did nothing wrong to them. He also seems to have no hesitation in doing anything sexual, at least, on guys as he kissed one of his dealers and didn't mind Fargo kissing him, though not out of love.
His relationship with the other Scars comes off as odd and based on their mutual liking of harming others, even if he got along with them, he wasn't above messing with Vince and killing him off all because he left them for a good reason. Even when he is around Fargo and Red, he doesn't seem bothered with talking badly with them and left the duo behind, unaware that they were under Brenda's trap, he doesn't seem saddened but shocked to see them dead later on. By the end of the day, the way he treats his compadres is out of mutual sadism, and arrogantly claims to own people like Vince, who he presumably peer-pressured into joining his gang.
Despite his ruthlessness, he's still nothing but a petty coward deep down and he was shocked upon seeing Fargo and Red dead, knowing Brenda is likely to go after him next and shoots out of cowardice. In addition to his cowardice, he plays dirty as he was able to outsmart Brenda by hitting her with the gate door in order to finish her off for good.
Biography[]
There's not much on Jake's history, however, it is assumed that he already started forming the Scars alongside Fargo and Red, then at some point on he would recruit Vince into their gang. It is also shown that he and his boys started dope dealing and he seems to be in charge of collecting the debt from one of his associates.
One night, he and his partners picked up Vince for a night out. They were drinking, smoking and conversing throughout the streets on the road before their car ends up almost hitting Brenda's deaf sister, Heather, which started a feud between the Satins and his gang. Jake then tries scoffing it off as nothing while he had Fargo "apologize" for the hit and run, even trying to invite Brenda and the rest of the girls to a nightclub, though Brenda declined as the girls stormed off. Jake and the gang then confronted and ambushed Fadden for the debt he was supposed to pay them while he had Fargo and Red sexually assault his girlfriend, Jake proceeds to do an investigation by checking his belongings before kicking in the stomach painfully as he and his boys laughed at him.
Jake is then seen kissing one of his dope dealers before they rode off to sell more dope, they were caught off-guard when Brenda and her friends stole their car and later trashed it as they chased after them, as soon as Jake and his gang found their car piled with trash, they swore revenge against the Satins as they angrily breakdown while Jake yelled out of rage.
He and his gang then arrive at the very school Vince, Brenda and her gang go to as they confront Fadden over their dope and debt, painfully grabbing him by the private parts. He and his boys soon taunt him before the principal shoved them aside and tells them to get away from the schoolyard, only for Jake and the gang to laugh at his face before taunting him by spitting on the floor, only to leave when the principal threatened to call the police. Jake and his gang are seen outside the stadium field before he soon spotted Heather going into the gymnasium, plotting his revenge against Brenda by messing with her sister, smiling wickedly at the thought, which then he had Red distract her for a moment to corner the area she's in.
He, Fargo, and Vince soon cornered Heather as they all began to assault, grope, and kiss her inappropriately and forcibly before dragging her away to an empty bathroom stall. Jake then removes her clothes as he had Fargo and Red molest her one time before forcing Vince to violate her, pressuring him along with Fargo and Red as their newest member ends up violating Heather as if it was his birthday upon removing his overalls. After Vince raped Heather, Jake would separate Fargo and Red when they fought over having a turn before Fargo kissed him, laughing as Red proceeds to have his way with the deflowered Heather as Fargo took a turn next. When they heard someone coming, Jake and the gang made their escape while leaving Heather for dead when he kicked her hard on the head, placing her into a coma, and bleeding before she was found by one of Brenda's friends and later taken into a hospital, causing Brenda to grief with guilt.
On the same night when Brenda grieved at a club, Jake and his gang came to where Vince worked and had him come with them to a party. Jake and his boys soon confront Fadden about their money, which he gave to him as promised before he left as Jake doesn't seem to acknowledge his question mockingly. Jake and his right-hand men soon mess with Vince about what they did earlier regarding Heather as Jake and his men hauled women over to tease him about it, when he pulls Francine, Brenda's best friend, over to his side and then to Fargo as he kissed her forcibly. When two men came over to stop this, Jake forces Fargo to let go of her and have him apologize for "embarrassing" him, which leads them to fight the two men. Unfortunately, Jake is then scarred on the face by Francine breaking free from Red and using his pocket knife to do so, leading to Jake swearing revenge for this as he and his gang retreat for the night.
Jake and his gang then meet up with Vince regarding the rumors of their incident with Heather, not concerned one bit and even advising Vince to keep his mouth shut about what happened as soon as he demanded Francine's location. Once Francine got her wedding dress, she is then chased after by Jake and his boys, spitefully going after her for what she did to him last night, which he lies to Vince about "hurting her". As soon as they cornered Francine on the viaduct, Jake, Fargo, and Red then proceed to torment her cruelly till she spat on him, though it further angered Jake into throwing her off the edge as his right-hand men encouraged it as he ignores Vince's protests, crossing the line as he throws her off the viaduct without a second thought. After Francine was killed, Jake tries to get Vince to come along but refused and left hating them for what they did, as Jake angrily calls out how he owns him before Fargo convinced him to leave the scene.
Later at night, Jake forced Fargo and Red out of the car in order to settle the matter with Vince alone, leaving them at the garage unbeknownst that their days were numbered by Brenda. Jake then ambushes Vince outside the alleyway, running over him as payback for leaving the Scars as the youngest member dies from the impact. Later on, Jake comes back to celebrate Vince's death with Fargo and Red, however, upon opening the garage door, he is shocked to see his right-hand men's corpses right before him until he heard Brenda's voice, trying to shoot her to no avail as he is then shot in both his knees by her crossbow's arrows.
When Brenda comes out, she prepares to taunt him again by having him fall for another one of her traps, getting hanged upside down as Brenda soon calls him out for what he did to Heather and Francine, especially when she told him about her being pregnant, only to spit at her spitefully. It wasn't long before Jake outsmarted Brenda in a dirty way to take advantage of the situation he's in by hitting her with the door and once he untied himself from the trap, he tries to strangle her before she escaped from his grasp after stabbing him near the crotch, which he then chases after her from the alleyway to the warehouse store.
As Jake continued going after her, Brenda finds a way to kill him by using flammable paint, and once Jake finally got his hands on her after a minute of searching the area, he ends up getting flammable paint all over himself. This would end up giving Brenda the advantage to set him on fire using her lighter while Jake tried to strangle her to death once more as he then screams in agony from the flames and runs out throw the window, dying slowly as he was burned to a crisp for what he had done to Heather and Francine, thus Brenda avenged them in doing so.
