~ Jake's only line, during his arrest |
Jake (surname unknown) is the main antagonist of the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode "Snatched". Jake is the kidnapper of Rosie Rinaldi for ransom, compensating for his loss of diamonds he gave to senile career thief Frank Hager for fencing.
He's portrayed by Chadwick Brown.
Biography[]
Jake was raised by a professional safe cracker, his father teaching Jake all he knew. The safe cracker was also the instructor of Professor Roy Batters. Jake used his skills to become a professional thief, his M.O. being showing a fake police badge through a peephole, then blitzing everyone in his targeted location, making off with a heist, and escaping out a back window down a fire escape. His latest heist was of diamonds in an expertly constructed safe only he, his father, and Batters could crack. He gave the diamonds to Hager to fence, but his daughter and son-in-law, Liz and Pete Rinaldi, used the diamonds to pay off Pete's gambling debts. Jake was furious and told Hager, who was sundowning by then, he was kidnapping Liz's daughter Rosie, threatening to kill her if Hager didn't pay Jake what he wanted for the diamonds. Jake used his usual ruse to break into the Rinaldis' apartment, knock out the babysitter and her boyfriend, and make off with Rosie.
Rosie's father, Geno Parnell, was the original suspect, until he was instead solicited to talk to Hager and ask if he could recall anything about the kidnapper. The detectives were then distracted again when the Rinaldis provided a fake ransom demand and stole the money at the drop point to flee the state. One of Hager's rivals, Eddy Mack, provided the news story that revealed Jake's diamond heist, so they went to Batters, and he revealed Jake was the suspect they were looking for. Jake was arrested and Rosie was rescued.
