This world is a f***ed up mess, Daria. You and I are the only thing that ever made sense to me. And I will not stop coming for you until you are mine.
~ Caddock's last words to Daria before he's murdered.

James Caddock is one of two main antagonists (alongside Talen) of the 2019 horror movie The Car: Road to Revenge. He was a persecutor that came into ownership of an encrypted data chip that contained evidence of The Night's crimes. Talen, not wanting to be exposed, sent his employees to go kill Caddock. But unbeknownst to him, Caddock would possess his car and use it to take revenge.

He was portrayed by Jamie Bamber.

Biography[]

We first see him during the trial of a man convicted of kidnapping and human trafficking. Where Caddock as the prosecutor gets him the guilty verdict, leading to him being immediately painfully executed by a glass chamber. Caddock is then interviewed by the press where he claims the new death penalty system has been a success and that he’ll continue to prosecute the criminals plaguing the city. We then see him in his office holding the chip while calling his ex-girlfriend, insisting she meet him for food at 8. A man then comes into his office and Caddock tells him to start decrypting the chip, as it could be the crowning moment in his career. He then gives himself the rest of the day off.

Caddock meets with his ex-girlfriend Daria at a restaurant where he goes all out in an attempt to convince her he’s left his controlling ways behind. He then takes her out on a drive where he brags about how great his car is and how he only bought it today. He then attempts to fear monger about the lower class neighbourhood they’re driving through at the moment when Daria calls him out for calling them filth. Then he tries to grab Daria’s leg only for her to push his hand away and say this was a mistake. She demands he take her home but before she can get out, Caddock grabs her hand and says their relationship was the only thing that ever made sense to him and that he will not stop pursuing her until she is his. She then gets out of his car.

The guy he spoke to in his office earlier then calls him and Caddock demands he speak fast as he is already angry. He tells Caddock he can decrypt the chip but it’ll require illegal software that’ll need court approval. Caddock then demands he do it right now because he wants to break the case as soon as possible. But then when asked about getting a warrant to do it tomorrow again, Caddock says fine and reluctantly agrees to it. It’s at this point the guy leaves and Talen’s employees show up to get the chip. Caddock puts up a good fight and never reveals the location of the chip, but he’s ultimately brutally killed by Talen’s employees.

Caddock’s car ends up at a junkyard, where Caddock’s spirit to possess it, kills a random worker and then leaves. Caddock then begins tracking down Talen’s employees and brutally kills them off, doing so while also stalking Daria. With him killing the first one in an alley, by slowly crushing him. He then kills the second by chasing him down, nearly running over Daria in the process, and pushing his car off a mountain. He then heads to the bottom of the mountain where he brutally crushes the man as he tries to escape. He kills a third and then rolls down his windows to show Daria that there’s no driver.

Eventually he becomes aware of the escalating romance between Detective Rainer and Daria and is enraged by it. So when he leaves Daria’s apartment, Caddock begins attacking him, engaging in a chase with Rainer while he rides a motorcycle, With Rainer only barely managing to escape via climbing up a ladder. But following this, Caddock is chased by Talen’s employees, with Caddock running over two police officers during the chase. Eventually he sees Daria escaping in a police car, so he does a flip over his pursuers, killing two of them in the process, to chase after Daria. Due to a deal between Daria and Talen, Caddock is lead to a trap within a quarry where his car is then trashed by Talen’s employees in order to get the chip.

An elderly mechanic then finds Caddock’s car and fixes it. When Caddock comes back, he brutally kills the mechanic and immediately goes to find Rainer, with him hitting four people in the process. Caddock eventually finds him and follows him into a strip club where he runs over and nearly runs over several people in the process. He eventually finds him along with Daria and Talen and brutally kills Talen before attempting to kill Rainer and Daria. He chases them around but they eventually outsmart him and blow him up. Only for him to come back one last time as Daria is on a stretcher, where he then kidnaps her and attempts to drive off a cliff with her inside, using the radio to tell her it’s so she can be his forever. But before he can she rips up the wiring of his car, and pushes his car off a cliff into the ocean, getting rid of him for good.

But as the credits are about to roll, we’re shown his car at the bottom of the ocean, the headlights then turn back on indicating he’s still alive and will come back for revenge.
