~ Hook threatening Wendy into telling him Peter Pan's whereabouts.
Captain James Hook, or simply known as Captain Hook, is the main antagonist of 2023 adventure fantasy film Peter Pan & Wendy, a live-action remake of the 1953 traditionally animated classic film Peter Pan.
He is a vengeful pirate captain from Neverland who commands the pirate galleon known as the Jolly Roger. He has a personal vendetta against his former friend Peter Pan, the leader of the Lost Boys, due to Pan's role in exiling him and making him lose his hand to a crocodile and replacing it with a hook. He is also based off his original incarnation with the same name.
Prior to becoming the captain of the Jolly Roger, Hook was an orphan named James, who was the first lost boy and Peter Pan's best friend. They liked each other and they always played together at various things, including hide and seek, which was their favorite game because Peter was good at hiding and James was good at finding him.
But Neverland was not enough for him and so James tells Peter that he missed his mother. Upon hearing this, Peter angrily kicks James out of Neverland. Afterwards, James ended up getting lost at sea until he was rescued by his future first mate Mr. Smee. Soon, James ended up being raised by the crew of the Jolly Roger, becoming the new captain of the Jolly Roger before leading the pirates to find Neverland.
In a moment of the story, James has a sword fight with his ex-friend Peter Pan, but ends up losing his hand in the process. Since James lost his hand, Peter throws it to a crocodile, who swallows it along with his pocket watch. And so, the boy formerly know as James finds his destiny as Captain Hook.

Personality[]
Like his original counterpart, Hook is vengeful, greedy, power-hungry and manipulative who’s ultimate goal is to kill Peter Pan and take over Neverland.
Very much unlike his original counterpart however, who is more of a comical coward, Hook is far darker and has no comedic moments and is played completely seriously as he is far more dangerous than the animated one, very much like the remake version of Scar. Hook is also depicted as being far more raucous, vengeful, cacophonous, manipulative, but also sophisticated than his his original counterpart.
However, a lot like with his original counterpart, he is also shown to be quite intelligent as the remake incarnation was willing to kill not only Peter, but also the Darling children, especially Wendy so he can use them as a bait to lure Peter into his trap. Even when he is shown to be afraid of Tick Tock the crocodile, he proves to be less cowardly than the original version. Despite this, he still has some honor and unlike previous versions of Hook, he gets a redemption arc.
It is revealed that Hook was originally a lost boy in the past, but after getting lost at sea because he wanted to find his mother, he was raised by the pirates all up to his adult years, to which he then was rejected by Peter for growing up, which made Hook into the antagonist he is today in the first place.

Trivia[]
Like the previous remake villains, Hook has no comedy traits.
Unlike Shere Khan, Gaston, Scar and Bori Khan who are killed off and unlike Jafar who gets sealed into a magic lamp, Hook redeems himself in the film's climax unlike most versions of Captain Hook, making him the third original Disney Villain in a live action remake to redeem himself after Maleficent and Lefou.
When the roles given, Alan Tudyk was meant to portray Hook, but his role was changed to Mr. Darling, giving the role Jude Law.
Unlike most versions of Captain Hook, especially his original animated counterpart, this is the first version of Captain Hook in which the origins of his feud against Peter Pan are fully shown and fleshed out. All previous versions, including the classic Disney one, only left that backstory element up to the viewer's imaginations.
Prior to being cast as Captain Hook, Jude Law previously portrayed Yon-Rogg in Captain Marvel, which makes Law the second actor from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to play a Disney version of Captain Hook: the first one was Tom Hiddleston, who plays Loki Laufeyson in many MCU productions and voiced the original animated Hook in The Pirate Fairy.
Joaquin Phoenix was originally offered to play Captain Hook, but he declined the offer, most likely because of his role in Beau is Afraid.
Usually, most Peter Pan productions have Captain Hook and George Darling being played by the same performer, as a way to symbolize that Captain Hook represents the worst aspects the Darling children see in their dad as a "mean grownup" before he warms up after realizing his mistakes. However, while Jude Law played Captain Hook, Alan Tudyk was the one who played George Darling in this movie.
It was quickly rumored upon the release of the film's official trailer that this version of Captain Hook would have some kind of history with Wendy Darling and possibly Peter Pan due to him knowing Wendy's full name and the film's synopsis hinting that there was more to Peter's story. It wasn't until the film's release that this theory was confirmed or not.
Hook being a former lost boy and being a friendly enemy to Peter towards the end previously came from the 2020 film Wendy.
