He was voiced by the late Kiyoshi Kobayashi.
Biography[]
James Moriarty was first mentioned when Conan and the others arrived at the Home of Sherlock Holmes, where they found his name on a notebook about Jack The Ripper. Ran and Conan explained to the others that Moriarty was known as "The Napoleon of Crime" due to his ability to control the criminal world of London from the shadows puppetering others to do his dirty work in order to protect himself. Conan then mentions that while they can't find Moriarty there is someone who could know where he is; Colonel Sebastian Moran, his right hand man and since Conan is a huge Holmes fan, he knows where Moran would be; The Trump Card.
Later after a quick fight against Moran and the other members, and Conan threatening to destroy a wine bottle meant for Moriarty, he would make his first appearance (dressed like a carriage driver) as he said that Moriarty would like to meet the children who asked about him.
Outside Conan and the others encounter the real carriage driver (who pretended to be Moriarty) and asked what they want with him, Conan then revealed that the man sitting in the carriage isn't Moriarty but rather his carriage driver as Moriarty revealed himself and wondered how did Conan know. Conan explains that Moran pleaded with Moriarty (who was still pretending to be the driver) by saying "Please, wait a second" which confused him at first as he wondered why would Moran be so polite to a carriage driver, but the biggest clue was that when Conan handed him the wine bottle, he smelled natural cologne which he was known to wear, and that Moriarty was a master ventriloquist, which was a test when the driver pretended to be him.
While impressed that Conan was able to figure it out, even saying that it's like talking to a younger version of Sherlock Holmes, he wondered what does the kids want with him and Conan asked him about anything about Jack, since he was the one who unleashed him. Moriarty then explains how he met Jack, back when he was a little boy out on the streets of London and took him in and helped nurture him his talent of being a criminal, even admitting he trained him to be a killer. However, when Ran wanted to know why Jack targets women, Moriarty explains that it was an impulse that Jack had that Moriarty never thought existed. Moriarty then told the others he would help them stop Jack since Jack is the only person that doesn't follow Moriarty orders and told him that in order to know when he will kill again, Moriarty will hide a clue in tomorrow's newspaper and Jack will know where the next target will be. However just as Moriarty was about to leave, Conan warns him about an event that will happened in three years from now at the Reichenbach Falls, which Moriarty would take the warning and he and his Driver left. Shinya than asked Ran about Reichenbach Falls and Ran said that three years from now, Holmes and Moriarty would have a final showdown at the falls, where both would fall and only Sherlock would live while Moriarty would Die. Conan then wondered why he would do that and believe that deep down, he respects Moriarty too just like Holmes.
Later that night at the opera house where Irene Adler was preforming, Moriarty would make his last appearance in the film as he watches the chaos after it was revealed that Jack planted bombs in the house, as he laughed and never seen again for the rest of the film.
