Later his revenge plan started. Kevin optioned Grace that they would travel to Colombia soon, James waited at his car, and when they both got in, he quickly kidnaped his ex-wife, then hired a similar looking actress named Rachel Park to pretend to be Grace.
When June realized that her mother never came back home, he claimed to be a pastor at a Christian rehabilitation center for ex-convicts but had actually blocked June's research into her mother's disappearance. Then, when June exposed that Grace never traveled to Colombia that Heather tried to expose the case truth, James quickly snugged to her office, killing her, and delete all of her flies which has an encrypted line of communication between her and Kevin.
Later, when June snugged into her mother's email to reveal her old house. Suddenly James reveal himself to June at her house for getting more information about the case, before actually for kidnapping her, and drove her to old house, where revealed Grace kidnapped place. Grace and June reunite at kidnapped June room, but Grace was shot by James, and James tried to leave with June. When June resisted, James prepared to shoot her too only for Grace to stab him in the neck in retaliation.
With the last of his energy, he made his way to his computer to get help all while locking Grace and June in the room possibly to cover his tracks. But due to too much blood loss on his neck, he dies on his computer shortly afterward, ending his monstrous reign of terror on June and Grace once and for all. Nevertheless, June and Grace are rescued by the SWAT team due to a 9-1-1 call on Siri and sent back home, and Grace starts a relationship with Javier, a Colombian who tried to help June expose the truth earlier and is trying to reconnect with his son, leaving James' plans all in vain.
Personality[]
James was supposed to be a gentle and kind man who seemingly loved playing with Grace during her childhood. However, inside him, he was a sadistic, ruthless, selfish and arrogant drug addict who seemingly had an abusive relationship with his ex-wife Grace that seemingly led her to call the police to send him to prison as well as changing her name to move away along with June. This is proven when he went to June’s house to explain the truth, only to kidnap her and take her to her old home as a hostage.
Upon kidnapping her, this is when his vain, cold hearted, arrogant and selfish methods are revealed. Through his cameras installed in his home, he seemingly tried to threaten Grace with death if she didn’t comply to him, even shooting her as well. He was also ruthless and threatening when he also tried to either kill June or take her with him as a hostage so she can never see her real mother again.
In conclusion, James’ own actions and arrogance proved to be his downfall; this is proven when he threatened June with death, he was stabbed by Grace in the neck as retaliation. And although he tried locking them up once more as he searched for a place to escape, all while refusing to listen to their pleas, this didn’t earn him any good as his own selfish deeds resulted him dying shortly afterward. This proves that James Walker is just a cold hearted, arrogant, deceitful, and selfish drug abuser and monster who only cares for himself and seemingly wanted June out of Grace’s life forever.
Trivia[]
- James Walker is one of Sony Pictures’ most sinister villains, as he had seemingly been the one to set the movie in motion by faking a relationship between Kevin and Grace so he can capture Grace himself.
- It is never revealed if he was also a reckless driver despite being a drug addict.
- Even if he would've lived and nearly got away with his actions, it is still likely that he would've been arrested by the authorities for the second time and been given a lifetime prison sentence or likely face the death penalty in prison for not only being a drug addict, but also faking a relationship between Kevin and June, hiring an actress to pose as June, killing Heather in her office and deleting her files, as well as kidnapping June and Grace and nearly even attempting to murder them.
