Jamie McCabe is a supporting antagonist in the 2025 horror film Together. Jamie is the amalgamation of a couple who was cursed by a New Age cult site to be morphed together into one person, which Jamie proselytizes to Millie Wilson and Tim Brassington, the latest couple of victims of the site.
He's portrayed by Damon Herriman, who also portrayed John Smith in Cold Case and Charles Manson in Mindhunter.
Biography[]
Jamie was previously two husbands who lived in a home in woods that housed the site of a former New Age church, which collapsed into the cave in which it was housed. By means unknown, the cave was under a spell where if couples ever entered the site, particularly drinking the cave's water, they would be cursed to physically fuse together until they became one person with the characteristics of both partners. The two men Jamie once was agreed to the ritual, which is how he came to be. He watched over the site when other couples would live there, including a couple named Simon and Keri. As they were against the ritual and Simon killed himself to stop it, he and Keri were messily fused together to be an unnatural mutant in an existential limbo doomed to be stuck in the caves. When Tim and Millie moved into the house near the cave, Jamie watched them to ensure they ended up like himself instead of Simon and Keri.
When they were trapped in the cave and had to hydrate themselves with the water until the could leave, Millie and Tim were already at risk of fusing together. Jamie offered a warm welcome to the neighborhood and elaborated on the cave's history. He continues to watch the couple as the fusion becomes more aggressive, seeing Millie as the partner he can appeal to. He quotes Aristophanes to coax Millie to stay with Tim long enough for the ritual, without outright describing it, lying his husband "died" so her pity convinces her. After the two of them spend their time fighting off the ritual, they have to resort to cutting their bodies apart, which requires them to go to the hospital. As Millie left her keys at Jamie's she goes back to find them, only to see Jamie's wedding tapes and the ritual that made him. He admits the truth to Millie and cuts her arm in a way that helped him in his ritual to speed the process up. As Millie and Tim are both afraid to die together, they let themselves become an androgynous person, particularly by the time their parents arrive to visit them.
