The Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (陸上自衛隊 Rikujō Jieitai), also known as the JGSDF, are the secondary antagonists of the first season of the anime Date A Live. It is the main branch of Japan Self-Defense Forces and the de-facto army of Japan.
History and Foundation[]
The JGSDF was created on July 1, 1954. After the Cold War, their main concern was to maintain internal security in Japan and combat a possible Soviet invasion. The largest of the three services of the Japan Self-Defense Forces, Japan Ground Self-Defense Force is responsible for maintaining internal security in Japan and operates under the command of the chief of ground staff, based in Ichigaya, Tokyo.

In secret from the world, Japan Ground Self Defense has a majority of the craft of weapons and technology, its relationship with the DEM industries is not shown to the public and neither the world's authorities, in secret the two factions work together in creating shadows and developing weapons, building new types of combat units Realizer and even using living people as designs for new weapons testing.
Anti-Spirit Team[]
The Anti-Spirit Team (AST) is a special unit within the JGSDF designed to suppress and eliminate spirits by means of killing them, although they have yet to do anything more than drive them off. The public has no knowledge of this Special Forces Unit. Currently, it is shown that the AST is made purely out of females and for the most part teenage girls.
