Jared Miko is a psychotic serial robber and murderer.
Background[]
Jared Miko would have a long history of violent crimes, even being wanted for breaking his probation in California. He would begin to commit various robberies in exchange houses in different locations in Chicago, his partner, Nick Vosh. Vosh was in charge of robbing the houses while Miko keeps the manager's family kidnapped and threatens to kill them if they don't give them the password to the safe. Miko participated in one such robbery, where an ink bomb exploded in his face. Due to this, Miko killed the wife of the manager in that exchange house and left the body in the woods. One night, while getting high with Nick, the latter told him that he kept his money in a suitcase at his father's house.
Miko and Vosh agreed to start renting trucks, because they didn't have trackers, they started illegally renting a van from Barbara Fletcher. At some point, she started raising the rental price, Nick didn't want to pay more and when Bunny saw they were offering a reward for catching Vosh and Miko, she decided to go to her daughter, Erin Lindsay, to report Vosh and Miko's crimes.
Erin's Mom[]
At the beginning of the episode, his partner Vosh was robbing an exchange house as usual, while Miko held hostage Dean Normark and Travis Normark, they were the husband and son of the exchange house administrator Sarah Normark. However, Detectives Erin Lindsay and Jay Halstead shoot Vosh and manage to rescue Sarah. Miko ends up getting desperate, so he puts Dean and Travis in the truck, later driving the truck into a frozen lake, where Dean and Travis end up dying. Much later, after a harsh interrogation, a detained Vosh ends up ratting out Miko, later the CPD manage to locate the motel where he was staying. Intelligence detectives Antonio Dawson, Jay Halstead, Erin Lindsay and Sgt. Hank Voight go to his room, but Miko realizes the presence of the police and takes out his gun and starts shooting. Miko escapes through the back of the motel, but when he falls, he hurts himself and ends up being tackled by Antonio Dawson. They start fighting, until Jay Halstead knocks Miko down and then they arrest him.
In the interrogation room, Hank Voight and Erin Lindsay question him, with him not talking even when Erin threatens Miko that the inmates will kill him as soon as he enters the prison, because he killed a child. However, he was unrepentant by stating people have done nothing for him. Miko soon reveals that Bunny illegally rented the van to him and Vosh, but at some point, she started charging more, and that surely Bunny gave them away just because they stopped paying her. Voight slaps Miko, telling him that he was there, not because Bunny gave him up, but because of them. Miko is put in a community cell but secretly managed to hide a knife in the middle of his clothes, using it to break the strap that tied his hands and later broke the neck of another inmate and then changed his clothes and escaped by pretending to be the inmate. A manhunt was launched for Miko after his escape was known.
While out of jail Miko got into a taxi but didn't won't pay the driver. The taxi driver goes after Miko with a mini bat, only for Miko to violently assault him. Miko would run off but not before taking the money that the taxi driver had and his bat. Recalling what Nick told him, he goes to Nick's father's place, because that was where Nick kept his part of the money from the robberies. Miko arrives at Vosh's father's house. He beats the latter for answers before he manages to get out with Nick's money in a suitcase. When a guard goes down, he identifies Miko and tries to stop him, but Miko kills him, Kim Burgess and Sean Roman chase him. Miko shoots at them and flees down the corridor at the back underground of the building. Antonio Dawson, Adam Ruzek and Erin Lindsay chase Miko. Miko shoots them and continues fleeing, but soon Miko is surrounded by Alvin Olinsky and Voight. Miko is then hit by Voight in his car.
Already on the ground, Antonio hits him a few times more and then arrests him. Lindsay would open the suitcase to find the money inside while Miko would laugh as he is taken away in a police car. Miko is taken back to the police station, where Voight welcomes him back. Miko tells Hank that he managed to escape once and that he was going to do it again, but when they were taking him to the inside the police station, Sarah Normark arrives in a crowd and shoots Miko, dying instantly. Sarah later voiced no remorse in killing him, as he took everything, she held dear.
Personality[]
Jared Miko was a cold-blooded killer. Even before he started robbing people with Nick Vosh, Miko had a long list of violent crime under his belt. Although Miko was in it for the money there have been times where he is shown to kill people even when it is not warranted. One example is the woman that he killed. It is said that Miko killed her because he was enraged when ink got on his face. Another example is when he drowned Dean and Travis Normark. Like Erin told him, Miko could have just let them go instead of drawing them in the river. Miko also showed himself to be untrustworthy. When he manages to escape jail Miko would go to Vosh father's apartment and assaulted him for the location of the money that Vosh said he stashed. Miko also showed that he enjoys all the terrible crimes that he does. When he is caught by Intelligence for the second time he just laughs as he is taken away.
