~ Hendri's confession |
Jason Hendri is the supporting antagonist of the Law & Order episode "Suicide Box". Hendri is a serial killer and the prime suspect in the shooting of Eric Thomas, which was inaccurately ruled by police as a suicide.
He was portrayed by Ato Essandoh.
Biography[]
Little is revealed about Hendri. He was eventually convicted of three counts of murder and sentenced to a term life in prison for each. When Eric's brother Stevie shot and wounded Officer Alice Cushman in a rage for the incompetence in the investigation into Eric's murder, Hendri was questioned in prison. He confessed to killing Eric, and he was later subpoenaed for Stevie's trial. Hendri testified to killing Eric for no reason at all, which the prosecution contested due to little evidence supporting his confession and with Hendri having nothing to gain due to his condemnation to spend the rest of his life in prison. Eric's death was intended to be left ambiguous even as a suicide or murder at the end of the episode, but Stevie was acquitted, and an extensive revelation of misconduct and corruption throughout every department involved in the case was revealed.
Trivia[]
- Hendri is inspired by Matias Reyes, a murderer and serial rapist having confessed to the Central Park jogger rape; and the late Henry Lee Lucas and the late Ottis Toole, two serial killers having provided countless confessions to murder, including the murder of Adam Walsh, many of their confessions ultimately being discredited.
