Biography[]
Background[]
Jasper Sitwell was born on December 8th, 1973 in Norfolk, Virginia to unnamed parents and later attended HYDRA's academy to become one of their agents. During his tenure at the academy, he became associated with fellow cadet Hale and attended a lecture by Daniel Whitehall. After passing his exams, he was assigned to infiltrate S.H.I.E.L.D.'s administrative division and tasked to kill his pet dog to prove his loyalty to HYDRA.
Thor[]
Sitwell is introduced as one of Agent Phil Coulson's team who were sent by Nick Fury to investigate the crash landing site of Thor's hammer. He is also linked to the battle of New Mexico when Loki sends the Destroyer to kill Thor, Lady Sif and the Warriors Three. He is last seen when Coulson wishes to debrief Thor, who reluctantly joins S.H.I.E.L.D. under the condition that they return Jane Foster's stolen items.
The Consultant[]
Some time after the Destroyer was demolished, Coulson and Sitwell met up to discuss a problem the World Security Council was holding with convincing General Thunderbolt Ross to release custody of Abomination to the hands of S.H.I.E.L.D. and make him part of the Avengers. Knowing Blonsky's true evil nature, Sitwell deceitfully suggests to Coulson that they send Tony Stark (The Consultant) to give the point to where Ross will declare that he'll never release Blonsky. The plan was a success, much to both Coulson and Sitwell's relief.
The Avengers[]
Sitwell was sent to the Helicarrier as a computer expert. He locates Loki in Stuttgart, Germany while locating the Tesseract. His abilities are shown when the Helicarrier came under attack by Loki's hypnotized henchmen as he repairs the damage.
Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.[]
Sitwell only appeared in the first season of the show, where he is assigned to work at the Hub in their mission to track down a HYDRA mastermind known as Clairvoyant, who intends to unleash the Centipede Project that involves healing his organs and unleashing an army of super-soldiers. Unknown to the other agents, Sitwell is secretly in league with John Garrett, who is revealed to be the Clairvoyant. Before Garrett's death, Sitwell was called in for a mission on the Lemurian Star.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier[]
Sitwell is first seen in this film on the Lemurian Star, being held captive by Georges Batroc. But it turned out that he was only there to protect secret information regarding S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Project Insight. Sitwell's true nature is revealed when he orders the STRIKE team to capture Captain America as it turns out he is working for HYDRA official Alexander Pierce.
He is next shown walking with his cohort Senator Stern, who says 'Hail HYDRA' as he prepares to leave his lunch. Sitwell receives a phone call from Sam Wilson/Falcon who forces him to come with him by threatening him with a laser. He is taken to a room where he is forced by Wilson, Rogers, and Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow) to get the true motives of Project Insight. Afraid, he tells Captain America, Black Widow and Falcon that Project Insight's true motivations are to use a special algorithm created by Arnim Zola to target all those who posed a threat to HYDRA's plans. In the car on their way back to the Triskelion, the Winter Soldier appears out of nowhere and kills Sitwell by ramming him into the traffic (under the orders of Pierce), much to Black Widow's shock.
Avengers Endgame[]
Five years after the death of half the living beings in the universe, the remaining Avengers and Guardians concoct a plan to go back to the past and collect the Infinity Stones from different points in time and use them to reverse Thanos' actions; Captain America, Iron Man, Ant-Man and Hulk going back in time to the Battle of New York to retrieve the Space Stone, Mind Stone, and Time Stone.
After Iron Man enters Stark Tower just after the Battle of New York, Sitwell along with the Strike Team posing as S.H.I.E.L.D agents arrive to assist the Avengers of the past with Loki's capture. Sitwell (under Pierce's orders) also retrieves the Scepter from Black Widow as part of Pierce's plan to study it.
After getting the scepter, Sitwell and the Strike team enter the elevator, where they are approached by Rogers, although none of them are aware that this is the Rogers from the future. Rogers tells them to give the scepter by lying that someone might try to steal it, but this confuses Sitwell and Rumlow refuses. Sitwell then decides to contact the director (likely Pierce) about this, but before he can, Rogers says "Hail Hydra" to him, much to his and Rumlow's confusion. Despite the confusion, they believe Rogers's lie, and as such, give him the scepter.
However, as the Time Variance Authority reset the timeline, the original timeline would proceed as it did, so Sitwell successfully transports the Scepter and continues working for Hydra before his eventual death at the hands of the Winter Soldier.
