Javier Escano, also known by El León is a major antagonist who appears in Chicago P.D. Season 9.
He is a gang leader who runs Los Temidos, a gang who is linked to the Sinaloa cartel and commits several crimes. He is the archenemy of Anna Avalos, a woman he ordered the gang rape of.
He is portrayed by José Zúñiga, who also played Al Eisenmund in Criminal Minds, and Eli Morrow in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

History[]
Javier’s parents were born in Sonora, Mexico. His mom came to the U.S. undocumented while he and his father, Iglesias, were close. Eventually, he got married, but his wife died; from that point, he never remarried or had any sexual relations. His father was a major influence in heroin trafficking, so Escano got inspiration from him by making a gang called the Los Temidos. He joined business class in his school and created a company known as Cárabo Bakery so he could use it to smuggle drugs. At the time of the show, his gang full of thousands of people was responsible for rackets such as murder, torture, prostitution, assault, money laundering, etc. to initiate young people in the gang, he made them rape or gang rape women to prove that they were ruthless. Anna Avalos was one of the women who was raped, and she swore to take revenge on the gang no matter what. Her brother Miguel was killed under the orders of Luis Cortes, a VP member in the 34th faction who hated the hire ups as he believed he deserved a higher position.
