~ Jay's most iconic quote as a villain. |
Jay Walker, also known as Rogue, was one of the main protagonists in Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu and a minor antagonist in the second season of Ninjago: Dragons Rising. He will return in the series' upcoming third season. Jay is the elemental master of lightning, a former member of the ninja and the former boyfriend of Nya, the elemental master of water.
After the cataclysmic event known as The Merge, he was separated from the Ninja and lost his memories. He ended up in The Administration, located in the former Realm of Madness, where he began working as a manager of Realm Reassignment under the name Agent Walker. Jay eventually escaped from The Administration and was found and recruited by Lord Ras, who took advantage of Jay's amnesiac state to win him to his side.
During the Tournament of the Sources, Jay fought against Nya as a new member of the Wolf Clan, but was ultimately defeated, causing him to lose his elemental powers. Because of his failure, Ras immediately expelled him from the Wolf Clan before sending him away. Although Jay was released from Ras' control, during his fight against Nya, he unfortunately shatters his soul after using Shatterspin.
Jay is voiced by Michael Adamthwaite who also voiced Zarkt in the same series.
History[]
After The Merge, Jay was separated from the other Ninja and woke up in a place known as The Administration, part of the Realm of Madness, where he had lost all memory of his friends, his identity, and his past as a ninja. He took on the role of the manager of Realm Reassignment, handling various tasks in the strange realm.
While at work one day, Jay was called by his assistant, Prentis, about a curious incident involving a kid who had visited their department, asking questions before leaving abruptly. Jay dismissed it as unimportant, continuing his work on video games and paperwork.
Later, Jay was involved in an incident when he intercepted Bonzle and Sprite, two fugitives attempting to escape through tunnels in Mysterium, formerly the realm of magic. He revealed that he lost his memories and hated his job. Sprite showed Jay a reflection of himself in his old ninja suit, which triggered Jay's dormant lightning powers. Though surprised, Jay quickly became wary of anyone discovering his powers, allowing Bonzle to escape.
Sometime later, he left The Administration, which cause a massive amount of unfinished data in the Department's records to be taken offline. Jay was saved from an unknown fate by Lord Ras, who convinced him that he had once been a great warrior. Jay joined the Wolf Clan and participated in the Tournament of the Sources, eventually traveling to the City of Temples. While there, Jay was spotted by Nya, who tried to reach out to him, but he ignored her and disappeared into the crowd.
The next day, Jay was chosen to face Nya in the tournament. When they met in the arena, Nya was devastated to see that Jay no longer recognized her. Despite Nya’s attempts to reach him, Jay, under Ras' influence, refused to believe he was a ninja and instead embraced his role as a conqueror. The fight escalated as Jay used his lightning powers, and despite Nya’s hesitation to harm him, she was forced to fight back. After knocking her down, Jay declared his loyalty to Ras and used the Wolf Mask to unleash the powerful Shatterspin technique. However, Nya eventually overpowered him using Rising Dragon, and won the match. Roby used the Elemental Cup to allow her to absorb his lightning powers.
After the battle, Ras expressed disappointment in Jay for losing, telling him that his apology was insufficient. Jay, feeling abandoned and angry, pushed Nya away when she tried to comfort him, coldly telling her he hated her. This rejection devastated Nya, while Jay's transformation into a more ruthless, evil version of himself shocked the other ninja, as Jay had become a shadow of his former self, a more ruthless and cold version of the person he had once been.
Ultimately, Jay was expelled from the Wolf Clan and left the city with Ras, knowing the ninja would likely come after him. Meanwhile, Nya was determined to save Jay and bring him back to the team, but the other ninja reminded her that the Tournament of the Sources posed a greater threat to the Merged Realms and the Source Dragons. Nya, still reeling from Jay's rejection, insisted that without him, the team would remain fractured—just as Master Wu had always said they should be. Lloyd reassured her that they would find Jay after the tournament, but as they returned to their quarters, Arin revealed to Sora that Jay had mentioned working in The Administration. This revelation made Sora realize that Jay was none other than Agent Walker, someone who might hold crucial information about Arin's missing parents. Though Sora tried to remain hopeful, doubts lingered, as he questioned whether Lloyd and the others would truly follow through on their promises to find both Jay and his parents.
After getting out from the Nether-Space, Kai vowed to Nya that he and she will find Jay and help restore his lost memories.
