Jessica, more frequently referred to by her nickname, Jecka, is the deuteragonist of the Class of '09 franchise.
She is a preppy girl with whom Nicole becomes best friends on her first day at her new school.
She is voiced by Kayli Mills, who also voices Satella in Re:Zero, Runa Yomozuki in Kakeguri, and Yuri Koshide in Housing Complex C in their respective English dubs.
Biography[]
Jecka is the first person Nicole gets along with on the first day (or third day if Nicole gets herself suspended on day one), and the two start hanging out every day. Jecka is shown to be one of the most sane students and consistently has a somewhat bigger conscience than Nicole, although she will usually still go along with Nicole's schemes and assist her in whatever she's doing, regardless of how criminal or immoral it is. She also shares Nicole's callous disregard for human life, a trait she continues to have in the Re-Up, such as when she causes Kylar to overdose on her prescription medication and she states that her primary concern is to ensure she isn't held responsible for his death. In The Flip Side, she gets over causing Ari's death while driving drunk as soon as she realizes she will face no consequences for killing her, and when Nicole poisons Jeffery, Jecka is only outraged at the prospect of losing the cash-flow that he provided to her should he die. Instances such as this make her perceived moral high ground over Nicole seem hypocritical at best, and Nicole even openly muses that Jecka may be a sociopath like she is.
Her dialogue suggests that her shifty, opportunistic morals may be a result of her dysfunctional family, as she makes several comments that suggest that her mother is emotionally abusive and threatens her with "disciplinary tattoos."
Jecka is shown to not be the smartest student (despite being in Advanced Placement history class), as she needs the nerd kids to do her schoolwork for her, and often gets easily brainwashed, such as the routes where she gets brainwashed into a white supremacist cult and - in an act that shocks even Nicole - kills Jeffery for leaving the cult or commits a bombing in which she assists in blowing up a Latin-American rights rally. The latter could also be attributed to a desire to fit in, as it's worth noting that if Nicole decided to be present for her conversation with the cult leader, Jecka will not get brainwashed, and will call out his racism, indicating that she typically abhors bigotry.
She is also shown to be a bully such as when she remorselessly bullies Jeffery along with the other students, resulting in her being shot during his rampage. In the endings where Nicole commits suicide, Jecka will text her phone number "miss u" indicating that she isn't as callous as she sometimes appears. By the events of The Re-Up, Jecka appears to have matured a bit more; while still a sadistic bully, she proves she has a lot of lines that she will not cross, as she expresses a tinge of regret when she causes Karen to relapse into bulimia by fat shaming her, and voices her appropriate disgust when Nicole enters an abusive relationship with Ari or sells crack-cocaine to a pregnant woman in a disadvantaged community (despite having helped Nicole cook said crack-cocaine).
Class of '09: The Anime[]
Jecka appears the main protagonist. Here she starts a crusade against the mall's Hot Topic, where Ari works, just because she wasn't allowed to eat her Chipotle burrito in the store. First, Jecka is seen ranting in front of the store holding up a poster. Next, she paid Jeffery with a photo she claimed were of her bare breasts, unbeknown to him it actually was a photo Emily gave Jecka of Kelly's breasts, to buy several hundred dollars worth of merchandise, only to walk out of the store claiming to forget his wallet. Afterwards, Jecka put up a banner over the store's sign, claiming that they host singles mixers that allow minors into the event, attracting Coach Colby. Her final stunt was to dump over 200 balloons filled with syrup into the store. Unfortunately, this is stopped by Nicole, who was hired by the Hot Topic manager through Emily so she could get a belt supposedly owned by Avril Lavigne. This damages their friendship until Jeffery comes up, demanding payment, having seen through Emily's deception. Nicole then slams Jeffery's head into the railing, where he bleeds out and dies, where Jecka forgives Nicole.
Villainous Acts[]
Throughout the series, Jecka is guilty of multiple felonies, several of which were because she was an accessory to Nicole's actions. Many of which are determined by the player.
- Assisted Murder: While brainwashed as a member of Mr. White's White Supremacy Cult, Jecka led the brutal murder of Jeffery.
- Bullying: Usually Jeffery, and on one occasion Karen.
- Cover Up: In The Flipside, Nicole convinced Jeffery to OD on drugs, which Jecka is forced to help in covering up.
- Defamation/Incrimination: In one route, she supports Nicole's false claim about being sexually assaulted by a teacher, resulting in him being arrested.
- Drug Dealing: Nicole once talked Jecka into making crack. She also sells Kylar prescription pills.
- Prostitution: In The Flipside, both Jecka and Nicole are involved in a Foot Fetish business. In one of the endings of the same game, Jecka becomes a full prostitute.
- Terrorism/Murder: While a member of Mr. White's Cult, Jecka helps create a chlorine bomb to blow up a Latin-American rights rally, killing Mr. White and many innocent people.
- Vehicular Manslaughter: During one ending of The Flipside Jecka, while drunk, ran over Ari.
