Jem Allen (portrayed by Daniela Denby-Ashe, who would later portray Lorraine Donnegan) was a disgraced supply teacher in Series 4 Episode 16.

Role in the series[]

In the said episode, Jem claimed to be a big shot with lots of money and friends in high places; she told music teacher Matt Wilding that a friend of hers called Hermione worked for BBC North West, and was coming to the school to do a feature on his school choir, but when nobody turned up, Matt phoned the BBC about it only to discover that nobody there had any idea who Hermione was or what he was talking about.

Later that day, she and Grantly Budgen took a coachload of students on a trip to what was supposed to be the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester, but on the way there she redirected them to what she claimed wass her boyfriend's house, a huge, expensive mansion with its own indoor swimming pool. The students did what they did best, drinking alcohol and messing about, leaving the place in a state, until they ended up at the swimming pool, and a prank by Paul Langley and Philip Ryan went badly wrong, leaving Bolton Smilie unconscious in the pool. Grantly jumped into the pool and pulled Bolton out, then suffered what was believed to be a heart attack (next episode was confirmed to be kidney stones) at the poolside and was rushed to hospital, but just before he suffered the “heart attack” he exposed Jem's lies, after discovering the truth by snooping through some files - Jem had no boyfriend who owned the house, she was merely house-sitting for a Mr and Mrs Birkett. This caused the students to despise and lose all respect for her.

Back at the school, Eddie Lawson and Rachel Mason spoke to Jem's mother, who revealed that Jem actually lived with her in a semi in a rough part of town. Eddie confronted and fired Jem for the web of lies about who she was and was never seen again.
