~ Sankey and Digori racially targeting Blanca Flores. |
Jennifer Digori is a supporting antagonist in seasons four and five of the Netflix dramedy series Orange is the New Black.
She is an inmate at Litchfield Penitentiary minimum security prison who forms part of the white supremacist movement.
She is portrayed by Olivia Luccardi.
Personality[]
Jennifer is illiterate and has low intelligence. It is possible that it is because she is poorly educated that she developed her xenophobic and supremacist attitudes towards people of colour. She is immature and easily manipulatable. She has some critical thinking skills, saying that she chooses not to read in case they "change her views" which are core to her identity. Comparatively, Digori shows less supremacist views and is more casually racist than the hardline Nazis she is friends with. She is also less confident than her contemporaries and softer spoken.
Physical appearance[]
Jennifer is gap-toothed. She is Caucasian with brown, curly hair.
Biography[]
Background[]
It is unlikely that Jennifer attended school due to her illiteracy, and may have been home-schooled. Jennifer's parents were drug addicts.
Orange is the New Black[]
Jennifer is introduced in season two in a minor role, where she is sat on a plane to Chicago after Piper Chapman is transferred. She sleeps on Lolly Whitehill's shoulder which irks her.
In season four, Jennifer is retransferred to Litchfield where Lolly recognises her. She forms an alliance with Kasey Sankey, Helen Van Maele and Brandy Epps. After Chapman inadvertently starts a white power movement, she becomes a key figure and demonstrates her xenophobia to numerous inmates. At one point, Digori pushes Blanca Flores down a staircase.
Digori predominately follows the group idly, often contributing little. When a riot breaks out, Digori obtains a pair of headphones which she becomes obsessed with as a form of escapism. Digori trades her phone for a bag of sweets. She shows regret at her illiteracy when she becomes interested in the library memorial made for Poussey Washington. Jennifer is eventually captured in the riot by CERT staff who rip her headphones from her.
