Jenny Carroll is the main antagonist of the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation episode "Killer Moves". Carroll is a nationwide serial killer targeting whoever represents to her chess pieces across the Western U.S., in the hopes of mapping through her murders her expert chess strategy.

She's portrayed by Canadian actress Sarah Lafleur.

Biography

Carroll's father was a grandmaster and a sexist investing in his and his sons' skills more than Carroll's, always referring to chess as a "man's game". Carroll grew to be an expert at chess herself, but what was available for her to be involved in competitive chess was a directorial position for the global chess tournament she'd rise the ranks of. Carroll buried her rage at men in the sport for years, until she snapped from seeing Troy Parker lose a match to Karl Schrute from a move she'd have predicted. Seeing inspiration to prove her expertise, and wanting to get back at her family, Carroll planned a series of murders across the Western United States wherever she was directing the tournament, to map out Parker's and Schrute's final moves from geographical placement of the murders, hoping to complete her demonstration and get noticed.

Carroll killed a total of nine people in the states of Oregon, California, and Nevada, including Lee Crosby, a demented ex-con and passionate chess player Carroll seduced into being her accomplice. His drugs were used to sedate every victim before they were murdered. Carroll also held Parker and Schrute captive, planning to kill them both and frame Parker for all the murders as a dare for investigators to see through her setup. As CSI Greg Saunders was encouraged to used his knowledge of the game by Paul Lomax, who was involved in the tour, Saunders evaluated the moves and realized the queen had the strongest action. From finding out the killer was a woman, the team found out Carroll used an account that looked like a vendor to operate a storage facility where Parker and Schrute were held captive. They were rescued, and Carroll was confronted. She bitterly professed all her crimes and motives, remarking the queen was still the most powerful piece in the game before she was arrested.
