In the film, Meyerling is first seen in the police department congratulating Officers Sam Steele and Richard Wade on stopping the arm robbers that occur in the opening sequence and invites them to his party.

Assuming he didn't see anything, they leave and continue to sell the stolen items.

After the homeless man reports the crooked cops to the Internal Affairs, the detectives go to Meryerling's place and arrest him for theft, possession of drugs with intent to distribute, and attempted murder. Back at the IA Headquarters, the detectives negotiate with Meyerling, who then cuts a deal with them to evade charges of his crimes.

In the Days Inn hotel, he meets his mother and informs her about the situation. He tells her not to worry and leaves, but once he turns his car on, it explosives and killing him in the process, presumably set up by Alexander and Sextram.

After Meyerling is killed in an explosion, Steele accuses Alexander and Sextram of Meyerling's mysterious death. Alexander chastises Steele for being insensitive and accusing him of having something to do with the unfortunate accident. Steele threatens Alexander and Sextram if something happens to Wade and his family. Alexander understands him and Sextram claims that their all on the same team and continue their conversation at the pawnshop. His death was later ruled as accidental.
