Jermaine Newton is a major antagonist in the Netflix series Top Boy, serving as a major character in Season 2 and a major antagonist in Season 3.
He is the brother of Rafe Newton and the cousin of Gerard Sullivan.
He is portrayed by Grime MC, Bashy.
Biography[]
Season 2[]
Sully and his new sidekick Mike were ordered to kill Jermaine who was revealed be Sully's cousin. Sully goes along with the job anyway, but Sully's phone was stolen by a little kid named Jason moments before the kidnapping. Whilst Sully confronts Jason, Jermaine attempts to run away but fails. Jason gets away, Sully then hears him shout "I got your phone dickhead," but Sully just focuses on his cousin. He and Mike take Jermaine to Sully's flat instead. He ties Jermaine to radiator. Jermaine wants some food so Sully rings Jason and tells him to bring some pizza over and automatically forgives Jason. Meanwhile Rafe (Jermaine's brother) bursts in to try to save his brother but Sully, Jason and Mike manage to get away and take him round Jason's mums house. Dushane Hill comes over and he then meets Rafe to sort out the issue, Jermaine is let go and Rafe spares his cousin but kills Mike instead.
Season 3[]
Jermaine meets Sully, and however, still upset over the kidnapping, Sully tells him to move forward and stop living in the past. Afterwards, Sully and Jermaine shake hands and move on. Later, Sully goes to Jason's funeral. Soon after, Jermaine drives with Modie's cousin Leyton to the cemetery to assassinate Sully, but both fail to kill him. After this, Jermaine helps intercept a prison convoy to break Modie out of prison and later joins him and Jamie on a raid on Sully and Dushane's hideout. Jermaine kills Ricky and Modie kills Gerry but fail to kill Dushane and Sully, while still injuring Sully. It is revealed that Dushane and Sully's long-time friend Dris betrayed them by giving Jermaine information on the hideout's location.
Modie's eye injury worsens, so Jermaine sends him to a private doctor, presumably one who deals with criminals often. The three keep Lizzie with them after rescuing her from Dushane and Sully. After realising Modie will kill Jamie and Lizzie after reaching Lizzie's supplier, Jamie attempts to stab Jermaine but fails. Jermaine defeats Jamie during their fight before Lizzie attacks Jermaine. Jamie then begins strangling him. On the brink of death, Jermaine points to the television, and the three see Modie getting shot by firearms officers. Then the shot goes to another group and thats the last time we've seen Jermaine.
It's unknown what happened to him after the events of Season 3.
Personality[]
Jermaine is characterized by being outwardly charming but ultimatley dangerous and manipulative. He is portrayed as being disloyal to his cousin Sully, who previously kidnapped him, and uses his position to betray Modie, his friend and brother-in-law, ultimately leading to Modie's capture. He joins forces with Modie during the hunt to kill his cousin.

- Sully and Jermaine are cousins but Sully made it clear to Jermaine that he never liked him.
- Jermaine was traumatised by Sully and Mike kidnapping him in 2012.
