Jerry Barkley is a supporting antagonist of the TV show Justified. He is a corrupt FBI agent in Theo Tonin's pocket and an old friend of Nick Augustine.
He was portrayed by Stephen Tobolowsky, who also played Christopher Maynard in The Glimmer Man, Happy Chapman in Garfiled: The Movie, Uncle Ubb in The Lorax, Ronald Tompkins in Toy Story of Terror! and Ferris Boyle in Batman: Arkham Origins.
Biography[]
In the Season Three episode "The Man Behind the Curtain", Barkley finds US marshals Raylan Givens and Tim Gutterson performing surveillance on Sammy Tonin, Theo's son, and orders them to back off the case, before ordering another agent to alert him if they begin surveillance again.
In "Watch The Detectives", Barkley takes a file on Raylan from another marshal after Sammy implicates him in corruption by falsely stating that he's taking bribes from Boyd Crowder as part of a plan by Robert Quarles. Barkley attempts to investigate Raylan, but marshal Art Mullen attempts to prevent his investigation, and Barkley threatens to have him arrested. However, when he's asked why he's investigating Raylan, he's unable to answer, meaning that he isn't able to pursue an indictment. An irritated Barkley tells Raylan that that doesn't mean he isn't corrupt before leaving.
Barkley next appears in the Season Four episode "Kin", in which he discovers that the files on Drew Thompson, a man who Theo is trying to find, have been handed over to the marshals. He goes to his associate Wynn Duffy's trailer to tell him what happened. While he's there, his old friend Augustine arrives and states that he knows Barkley lost the case to the marshals before shooting him in the head for failing to keep the case.
