Gerald "Jerry" Smith, also known as Season 1 Jerry or Jerry Prime, is a supporting antagonist in the science fiction adult animated comedy series Rick and Morty.
He was the son-in-law of Rick Prime, the father of Morty Smith, and the adoptive son-in-law of Rick C-137, who's mellow life frequently involved falling victim to the trials and tribulations of Rick's many sci-fi escapades. After one such escapade led to the entire world getting "Cronenberged", Rick and Morty were forced to abandon the rest of the family for another dimension, leaving Jerry to fend for himself as his life slowly fell apart over time.
Like his other counterparts, he is voiced by Chris Parnell.
In Rick and Morty: The Anime he is voiced by Manabu Muraji in Japanese and Joe Daniels (who also voiced Rick Sanchez in the same series) in English.
Biography[]
TBA
Appearance[]
Jerry is of average build, with fair complexion, dark brown hair, a clean-shaven face, and dimples. Jerry wore a dark green shirt with a brown and beige stripe in the middle, light blue long trousers, and black shoes up to the events of "Rick Potion No. 9". Jerry's looks does alter following the events of "Rick Potion No. 9," though. He now wears tattered clothing, a red bandana on his head, short facial hair, and a more chiseled appearance.
In "The Rickshank Rickdemption", Jerry's look changes again. He has no shirt on and is dressed in shredded blue jeans, black shoes, and a green armlet. He also wears a necklace and belt fashioned from cronenberg teeth, as well as a cloak, loincloth, and hood fashioned from cronenberg flesh, eyeballs, and teeth. He's also become more muscular since his last appearance. Jerry's beard has also grown in length.
Personality[]
This version of Jerry started out like any other Jerry; a cowardly and somewhat misguided man who wants to earn the respect of his family. He will do anything he can to protect himself or his ego. He is looked down on by his family, especially his adoptive father-in-law, Rick Sanchez.
After the start of the Cronenberg apocalypse, he takes on a much more brave personality and develops the confidence he needs to stand up for himself and earn his wife's love. This version of Jerry has become much happier, but over time, however, he becomes much more sadistic, cruel and barbaric. He holds a hatred for anything related to Rick, going as far as destroying Morty's only way home because his portal gun "stinks of Rick".
After the death of his wife and daughter, he falls into a depression and decides to let go of any attachments. He holds a grudge against Morty for abandoning him in his reality.
