Jessica Gordon, also temporarily known as Messica Gorgon, is a minor character in the sixth book in Dav Pilkey's Captain Underpants book series, Captain Underpants and the Big, Bad Battle of the Bionic Booger Boy Part One: The Night of the Nasty Nostril Nuggets, and one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Kenny Brian Meaner) of the series' Netflix adaptation, The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants.
Although she is one of the series' main characters, Jessica is shown to have a villainous side, such as having being abusive to Other Sophie, and even going as far such as attampting to sacrifice George, Harold, and Melvin to the Butt-erflies and get them killed by them.
Appearance[]
In her only appearance in the book series, Jessica is a medium-skinned girl with brown hair styled similar to Heidi's. She wears a small light yellow bow in her hair.
She has a radically different design in the TV series. In the TV series, she has a medium tan with darker blush and red lipstick. She wears a pink dress with a light stripe down the middle and a lighter colored shirt underneath. Her shoes are the same color as her tank top. She also has brown tousled hair with wavy lighter highlights for shine. Her design refers to the "mean girl" archetype.
Personality[]
As Jessica, she is a mean and sassy girl that acts as though she is the boss of everyone. She is usually seen with "The Sophies" and treating them unlawfully as though they are her slaves. This is especially the case for "Other" Sophie, as she is seen bullying and harassing her for no reason in particular. This is especially shown throughout the second season when Other Sophie disappears and is replaced by a tree sloth, to which she, as well as everyone else, can't tell the difference. However, she does have a soft side on Sophie "One" and is seen as a best friend to her.
As Messica, she becomes even more villainous due to her vampire state. She can be seen as a lifeless floating person that would have had no remorse for the people around her pleading for her to stop sucking their joy. She can also be seen as rude as she is to Other Sophie normally to everyone, such as when she taunts Captain Underpants for not being able to defeat her.
Biography[]
Role in the books[]
In Captain Underpants and the Big Bad Battle of the Bionic Booger Boy - Part 1: The Night of the Nasty Nostril Nuggets, she and Stephanie Wycoff show how to cook frozen lasagna in a pop-up toaster for Demonstration Speech Day, but they end up causing a fire in the process.
Role in the TV Series[]
In The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants, she has a much bigger role where she frequently engages in her own feminine affairs but is frequently entangled in the show's chaotic antics. A group of young women known as "The Sophies" are at her side throughout the majority of the episodes. Jessica is a good friend to Sophie One, yet she often is mean and abusive to Other Sophie and doesn't care about Other Sophie than doing Jessica's work for her. She even stole Other Sophie's presents when she attend her birthday party.
She transforms into the supervillain Messica Gorgon in “The Vexing Villainy of the Vile Vimpire” when Melvin tested his machine designed to project what he thought was can't miss comedy into someone's brain on Jessica. However, Melvin's terrible sense of humor mixed with the bat wing Jessica was eating at the time mixed and thus turned Jessica into a vimpire form George and Harold’s comic that was named and designed to mock Erica Wang, when she recommended that George and Harold should add a strong female character to their comic.
After falling to bite Melvin, Captain Underpants tried to fight her but getting bite by her, causing him to lose his joy, he still tries to fight her, but only failing again. However, George, Harold and Erica turn her back to normal by blasting bad hair videos into her brain, saving the world form her evil plans, though Jessica goes back into her selfish and abusive ways to her posse.
Jessica’s absolute worst action is in the episode “The Bizarre Blitzerg of the Bothersome Butt-erflies”, when George and Harold created the Butt-erflies, which led them to invade the school, with Jessica’s number-one priority is protecting her “har” form the Butt-erflies. She falsely accuses Melvin of creating them with no real proof and manipulated the kids to sacrifice him and get him killed by the Butt-erflies.
When George and Harold try to admit their mistake to everyone, she doubts them because "they don't do science, they do comics". And when they make a comic to try to tell her that they created the Butt-erflies and not Melvin, she continued to blame Melvin, along with George and Harold, and sadistically ordered the other students to help her throw them out of the safety of the cafeteria to be eaten by the Butt-erflies, and have the other kids stay with her in the cafeteria, despite the fact the Butt-erflies are eating through the walls. Also, when Captain Underpants and the boys show up to save them, Jessica takes all the credit for herself and say that she's the hero.
Even though Captain Underpants and the boys have defeated the Butt-erflies, Jessica isn’t shown remorseful for her actions and never apologizes to George, Harold, Melvin for attempting to sacrifice them, which was Jessica’s most evil moment in the series. Despite this, she would help George and Harold on some of their adventures thought the series.
In “The Abysmal Altercation of the Abominable Altitooth”, after the Sophies got kidnapped by a bald eagle, Jessica forces Gooch to be her "Temporary Sophie" thought the episode and "Permanent Sophie" at the end until he gets fired when her real Sophies return.
